Thread: Antarians and Jedi

I'm just curious. I'm not in any of the Antarian Ranger groups but was wondering if those that are really do help out Jedi or if they just used the group as a Ranger guild. I know there are many chapters of the Antarian Rangers throughout the different servers but wasn't sure how many roleplayed the helping Jedi bit.

Only if you hold true to the ideals set forth by the OLD Antarian Rangers. This is a different day and age, and as voiced by one of the devs, "an alternate universe where Jedi are prevalent."
When we created the Antarian Ranger guild on Tempest we had the intentions of defending Jedi and working with them. That did not happen for a few reasons.
1. Jedi don't need our help.
2. What kind of Jedi, other than a Dark Jedi, massacres harmless creatures to gain experience?
3. What kind of Jedi whips his lightsaber out for everyone to see and show off for all to see?
4. We as Rangers are not given the tools to do our job.
Antarian Rangers are not RANGERS. They are an assortment of beings from different backgrounds that all failed to become Jedi and now work with them.
Due to being unable to really fulfill the role of the Antarian Ranger, our guild on Tempest changed our name to the Xplorer Corps, a name that truly identifies what we are and what we do. We cannot protect Jedi and if we could, I don't believe any of us really wanted to. Considering as how many of them are rude, inconsiderate children that just want to be the UBER profession.
While the IDEA of the Antarian Rangers is a good one, it is truly hard to implement at this point. The problem that I have seen with starting an Antarian Ranger guild is that it gates certain people from joining merely due to the name Ranger being in the title. Most people don't want to be Rangers and they assume they need to be a Ranger to be in a guild called Antarian Rangers.

If you want to create an Antarian Ranger guild, make it what you want it to be. Whether that be a Jedi protecting guild, a Ranger guild, or a Jedi Hunting guild it really doesn't matter. Since the devs broke continuity and made Jedi prevalent in a time when they should not be, Antarian Rangers should not be held to any specific ideal set forth in times past.

My guild has "protected" Jedi in the past. The guild takes the RP of "Jedi protector" to heart, and sees it as part of it's mission. Natural alliances don't form easily, however, because in SWG one gets to be a Jedi and progresses as Jedi largely through being self-reliant. We've had great fun acting out the rare exceptions to that general rule though.

It is possible to be a pro-jedi Ranger (i.e. when/if they need help tracking animals, we'll do it)
I hear the new jedi quests will involve hunting specific creatures, so be ready to go tracking for a Jedi.
But, for the most part, it's been said: we are not a combat prof, and as such it is difficult to help Jedi. I (one time) actually helped a padawan who was being gang-banged by some stormtroopers. He thanked me and moved on, asking me to keep his name secret. I have do so to this day. I will soon be able to get Jedi missions as a BH, and I will likely find them and warn them. Dark Jedi, however, are fair game...
So yes, you CAN roleplay the Antarian Ranger role...if you know a jedi...if you don't it's unlikely they'll trust you enough to let you tag along. I'd still like to become the companion of a Jedi, applying camo to him/her as neccesary. Once JTL comes out, I'd love to be the gunner for a Jedi ship
By the way: even if a Jedi wouldn't kill innocent creatures to get XP, if the creature attacks him, he has little choice, correct? I doubt a Jedi would simply walk away from a Enraged Rancor chewing on their head. So as a Ranger, I could camo them to prevent this, or help them kill the creature (not that I'd do much, but we each do what we can, right??

A shame tho that the insta-tef from using a lightsaber or force powers will be a thing of the past next tuesday :/.

Even without a LS equipped, I can somehow manage to pick a jedi out of a crowd. I strike up a conversation and end up talking with them for a hour or so over tells. I've met a few jedi this way, but it's easy to tell which ones are pricks and which ones are pretty cool. Haven't been hunting with any yet, but they seem interested in hunting with a Master Ranger for some reason. Maybe because they know even if I try to attack them Im screwed because I have mastered ranger.

No.
Those wanting 'helpers' with them want/like rangers as they are as misinformed about the helpfulness of areatrack as everyone else is :-).
Those are usually lowbie Jedi btw, they do not need to fear to be attackable by you, low-end jedi are rebel by default, they get tefs against imperials.
Higher developed jedi seem to level mostly / exclusively on rancors in the current system, no rangers needed to locate constantly new spawns of those.
Oh and btw, you are not judged in terms of combat-ability because you are 'master ranger', your combat skills are defined by your combat prof, and tka might be screwed as most non-stun dealing profs due to the overpowered comp, they are still the second best PvP melee profession (only fencer doing better at PvP). A TKM vs a 'lowlevel' jedi fight... the tkm wins (unless someone gets bored too fast and runs off as both hardly can kill each other when buffed and wearing decent armor :-)).

I spend a fair amount of time hunting with a jedi.... although I can't really say he needs my help for anything... more like the other way around (he helped me get a **edit**ton of scout xp)
