Thread: Will Ranger be worth keeping?

From what i have heard, it is my understanding the when the Combat rebalance come around, almost all things in PVE will be harder to kill. Now if this is true and ranger still doesnt get any bonuses or offensive ability, then it will be even harder for us to get the resources off the creatures. So i guess what im getting at is should i stick with ranger, or drop it for combat till we get a revamp? Another reason im asking this is that beside tracking krayts for my guild i really dont ever use my ranger abilities.

In the end it is up to you. If you want to serve your guild better you can always just drop everything but tracking. I personally have done a lot of experimenting in the last two months with other professions but each time I have come back to Ranger. If you enjoy being a Ranger then don't drop it but if you are more interested in helping your guild and being able to fight then experiment.

It's a difficult decision but if you really think you would just end up trying to get Ranger back before the CB then maybe you shouldn't drop it. If you do end up dropping it, don't grind. Just play as normal and you'll be surprised how fun it is relearning everything. I know I am.

I'd say stick with it until the combat balance comes. Maybe wait until the CB is on test center when there's a clearer picture of how things will be changed.

It's really up to you. You could always keep Tracking 4 and use the extra skill points to take up more offensive abilities. Or, you could keep Master Ranger and try taking up another combat skill. (although that takes longer than mastering Ranger)

Get a pet, seriously, a nice little bio-engineered monster will do just fine, let it get the crap beaten out of it, whilst you pop away witha ranged weapon.

It is almost too easy with a pet, I was goofing about on Dath and found a wild lair that only ever spawned one creature at a time, some sort of Brakaset, the pet tanked it,I took it down with my pistol pretty quickly and got 5k pistol exp, lol.

Just go ranger / swordsman - you can currently solo anything in the game. Im sure the combat balance isnt going to make that combo ineffective.

Ranger is a way of life, brother ranger. It doesnt matter if they take all our combat powers away or if the rebalance skews us in a different direction. Being a Ranger is either in you or it isnt. As a Master Ranger, you have enough skill points to master a combat profession. Unlikely you will have enough to Master Commando or even BH but you will have enough to ensure your survivability.

I have a philosophy that you either are a Ranger at heart or your not. If your not, then enjoy your time as a Ranger until the thrill is gone (there's a song in there somewhere)and bid a fond farewell to it.

Happy hunting.

Ranger is not a profession. It's a lifestyle.

Trust me, shortly before they announced the CB and what it will entail and then the addition of Rangers wearing the Mando armor, I was considerig dropping it and pistoleer. Ranger is what it is, and pistoleer is just so underpowered/out of balance. But I"m also slow at getting up professions, being a casual player and all. It took me like 6 months to master ranger, then another couple to master pistoleer.

So in the end, I decided to wait until after the CB. And even then, depending on how good a job they "tried", give it some time to work out kinks. I love being ranger, and just wish we could get a revamp really soon. Like someones sig says, "Its not a profession, its a way of life". Soooo true.
