Thread: Another template to ponder...
Carbineer is turning into the FOTM for all the pistoleers who don't like their limited range, and all the riflemen who don't like their recon armor.
As it is though Carbines are good with a solid snare in Crippling Shot, a nice fairly consistant knockdown in Charge Shot, and excellent DPS if you have the hardware for it. Personally I'd switch the BH template to include the 4th box in carbines so you can use the Bothan Bola Carbine as it's one of the few kinetic carbines in the game. You will need it if you end up going up against any riflemen, pistoleers or smugglers.
Other than that, just make sure you keep the targets off you and you'll be fine. Personally though I'd be missing the use of the phecnacine dart though, I've really come to rely on it against creatures. And with the new hate system I have a tendency to lay in with my big specials early before the AI has built up any dislike for my tanks, and then the battle ends up either congregating around me or chasing me around the field. I find myself and my group survive a little better when I don't over special right away. Gotta remember to keep the hostiles beating on the tanks and not the shooters. With that template you'll be shooting faster, so be sure you don't over do it when you're in a group or you'll be dead really fast.

Bounty Hunter trees are | Investigation | Pistols | Carbines | LLC |, the template I suggested was 0344, so I've got the fourth box in Carbines there. Did you mean the fourth box in pistols, or did you have the BH pistols and carbines mixed up?

The template I outlined had master scout, and you only need Trappig III in scout to have phenacine darts.
Perhaps they changed the sequence since I last looked about Bounty Hunter, but up to last week it was Investigation | Carbines | Pistols | Rifles, and when I glanced at it, I want to say Thursday, they had renamed the pistols and rifle tree's to something more obscure. Anyway, the point being that during the CU openbeta theBola carbine was certed at carbines 4 and you want it for kinetic damage against recon armor, especially since Nym's is still rare, and it's usually garbage.
And I figured you could make the phecnacine dart, but at Novice Ranger I wouldn't expect to stick it on as much stuff, especially against the higher level content that I expect you'd be looking for. And in that case you'd be better off picking up smuggler or pistoleer for their Root than you would Bounty Hunter.
