.. well, not really to "throwing in the towel" on the Ranger profession, but to complaining. Yeah, I know, it's horrible. But I promise, this will be short and sweet.

I'm sure that a lot of people are probably going to get on my case about this, but I really think that shots like the pistoleer's rooting shot, or the kneecap shot (if it ever works) should only be effective against humanoids, and not defined creatures. Why? To make the game harder, and to give scouts and rangers more usefulness. If I'm in a group with someone who can +root+ a creature with a simple special attack shot, I feel that my role in the group as a combat person is seriously being treaded upon. Yeah, I can camo, and yeah, I can add to a harvesting bonus, but what about those dang creatures? Aren't we supposed to have an advantage over other professions on creatures (besides our creature to-hit bonus)? *rolls eyes* I, for one, would like to see our traps being completely unique over other special attacks, and not just another way to lay on states.

I guess that's it.

I agree with you for the most part. I'll explain the facets of your statement in which I differ. For one, I do believe the ranged professions should have a sort of 'root' ability. However, I think the ranger traps should last much longer than the ranged counterparts. Also, don't forget there are many people with melee professions out there who don't have a root ability. So, by virtue of that, ranger is very very valuable. For instance, a master ranger/novice swordsman can use p-darts on the mob for an escape route if the creature is pwning him. This will happen all the time. This provides a sure method in soloing. I've also noticed when people see my title up, they really really want me in their group. I've been a part of three hunting groups since CU*coughnerf* hit and the group will generally crowd around me. My traps are extremely useful in such situations. Even when newb mistakes are made and multiple mobs are coming. We're excellent crowd control in those situations. Now if we could get an improvement over the 'ranger' traps so their state effects stick longer than 5 seconds, i'd be happy. Ranged professions should also have a 'root' ability because there isn't always a master scout/ranger available to hunt with.

I would ace more squadrons if they'd just fix the remaster bug.
