Nerfed: No... we are still the exact same as we were before the CU. However, there are still some known bugs in attaining master ranger.

Still Cool: Yes... but kinda... if you like the "idea" of being a ranger, if you like being a great hunter despite the fact that ranger gives no real bonuses to hunting, then ranger is still cool.

The sad fact is that being a master ranger actually detracts from your over all "creature killing" abilities, as opposed to combat stacking with novice scout.

The numbers really dont support being a ranger... but yeah, its still very cool.

We've actually had a few new bugs introduced since CU. There's a thread somewhere...

Other than that we are unchanged apart from being granted combat level bonuses.

From teh recent events, it has become obvious to me that we are not considered important in comparison to any other classes. Ranger is no longer fun for me, becaouse our abilities are broken.

Mask Scent and Camo are not working. They are either ignored or instantly broken by questionably weak creatures. Camoflauge, as commented by the Devs, was never intended to work against npcs, even though the skill box description states the opposite. All foraged items give +49 or +50 regeneration to two different bars. Camps are all but useless, unless you need the public crafting stations. They do not repel aggro like they are supposed to. Traps are no longer necessary if you are in a group, because almost everyone else can do the exact same thing. I cannot rescue my group members, who are often lower leveled than my double-mastery CL 80, and must instead kill the beasts one by one while he is getting wailed on or even killed. Area Track does not always include every creature or npc in the 500m radius. Examining creatures provides no information whatsoever about their resistances and whether or not they death blow. While milking creatures, they often teleport about 30 meters skywards, burstrun 80 meters in 3 seconds, or warp on the other side of a mountain!

I stand by and watch people make suggestions on how we can make Ranger better. I see people, new to the profession, ask how we can take such a gimped state of our profession. With the recent hotfixes, the crafting professions with all of their complaining - exactly like the jedi - get their handouts from the Devs to stop the uproar over something in their profession that is not preferable, instead of something that is broken getting fixed.

Is it because so few of the player base actually enjoy Ranger? Do they only see us as a tiny percentage that would get upset over the nerfs and ignoring all of our bugs, but not be able to do much about it? We cannot just wait for our revamp. There isn't going to be a revamp if the Smuggler Revamp and the Bounty Hunter revamp (yes, both of these were mentioned being more of a priority than us at the player breakfast) do not go smoothly, and even so there will be alterations made to Kashyyyk, interface changes, profession "fixes," loot and enemy AI reconfigurations, and CL reductions for certain POIs or quests before our revamp is even considered by the Devs to be of significant attention.

Does this mean that I will stop being a Ranger? No.

Is that why they are ignoring us? Because we will not stop contributing to our servers? Probably.

The only thing that is working right is terrain negotiationand burst run efficiency. How sad is that?

Ranger hasn't been changed that much in the revamp. As mentioned we had some bugs introduced, and ranger counts towards our combat level and health bar too. With the removal of the combat que our traps let fly instantly now, although I think it's fair to say we're getting mixed results with their effectiveness. I've read lots of positive reports, however my personal experience doesn't tally with such report.

The combat level has mucked everything up, no longer are creatures at a set level and harvest amounts, it all comes down the combat level.

All the combat professions now have new specials, so you need to adjust your strategies accordingly. In fact, even rifleman has a root special, which makes phenacine darts that bit more redundant now. However, all the combat professions have increased marksman/brawler pre-requisits, so the old template of master ranger, master rifleman and medic 1000 isn't possible anymore. If you go master ranger plus master combat, you only have four skill points left, so if you're not force sensitive, that's four useless points.

Hunting isn't as fun as it was because IMHO the new combat is slow, boring, unclear, uninspiring and very much dumbed down. But,don't take my word for it, see for yourself.
