Thread: The Woe of the Land of the Woolamander
Doesn't that strike you as odd? That an animal will see a passerby, let him go on his way, but when he suddenly smells another he attacks him? Doesn't taht seem strange?
So, what I am saying is, are you really sure thats the way it works?
You mastered ranger without ever going to yavin? Wow, I practically lived there after the village popped up and dath wentall touristy. I probably spent a good 3/4 of my time getting to know that planet as I worked toward master. And now that wild spawn CL has been adjusted, I'm liking yav again. Give it another chance-- you're missing out if you leave yav off your list of travel destinations.

This recent 'grey con' change is the worst thing to happen to the scout/ranger profs in recent times imho. There is now very little benefitto using camo/maskscent on most planets. In fact its more of a hindrance. I really hope the devs fix this.

when camo/maskscent breaks you will be agroed, so dont camo/maskscent.

couldn't agree more... while i'm a fan of the fact that little things no longer bother me, i hate the direction it takes the game...
there are places that should be difficult to access.. this doesn't mean it has to be full of "tough" creatures... but it shouldn't be a walkthrough... i've been incapped bytwenty level 40 things, at my own level of 80... i shouldn't be able to walk into the chiss poacher's camp and walk around because they are too scared to take me 1 on 1... but now, noneof themattack me...
the reasoningbehind this change is flawed... they wanted to increase survivability of people, but they forgot that the challenge of some places were the army of the weak... not to mention, the ones it was meant to help out (the lower level characters), still have all these things attack them because they aren't high enough level...
and now, the direction it takes the game, and why that's bad... eventually, they'll add more content to the game... and this content will have to be higher level not necessarily "harder"... because if it isn't high enough level, you'll be able to walk through it, without even aggroing... look to the history:
first dungeon, the warren... when it came out, it was tough... then we developed decent buffs and armor, and it was no longer a challenge...
second dungeon, the geonosian lab... they had to make it tougher than the warren... buffs and armor were too good... it was really hard for a while... then they made characters more powerful, higher defenses, more firepower...
third dungeon, the death watch bunker... man, now this place has gotta be a lot tougher in order to challenge the players... it accounts for super buffs, super armor, and super abilities... yet... take some jedi with you, and it's not all that tough...
the corvette is a good example of one dungeon that changed with the times... they made it, we played it... it got "easier" as we got stronger... so they dropped a ton of battle droids in it... why?... battle droids were the instant "hard" button...
basically... they've put themselves in the same corner they did when they made players more powerful... the direction of harder content is now clearly defined as "higher level"... it could have been so much more...
i really hope they remove this...

The grey con change is boloxian on so many levels.
"immersion"
If it's a critter, it doesn't know from squat that you're carrying a crate of nice new knickers or a heeeyoooj clobberin' stick. It only sees maybe one difference, food laid out on a plate or spam in a can. It's going to attack, cos that's what it does.
If it's an NPC and is from a faction that you've built up hate with, yeah, sure, it's going to stand there and try not to see you... It HATES you, its not rational, you killed its brothers and sisters in arms and then stole their lunch money...
"dilution"
Camo. Maskscent. Rangers. Scouts. Not saying ANY more on THAT particular theme.
"funtionality"
It wasn't tested properly so the bugs with detection for different planets were not identified. The adventure planets hadn't had their levelling passes so any behavious up there were totally out of whack (On test I got a really nice screeny of me and two or three of the big yavin praying mantis critters admiring a moonrise.... no cammo, maskscent, diddly. They just weren't worried)
The radius for greys is small, but if you enter it you will get aggroed. Might be "as designed" it's not "as described".
"inconsistent"
I get ignored by greys if am NOT wearing camo, maskscent or, it seems, any modded clothes. As soon as I TRY to not be detected by stuff closer to my level I seem t face a higher than expected aggro level from low level munchkins.
Some PURPLE cons ignore me longer than greys. (Rancors near the harvester farms for the village yesterday, drew me a total blank. Purboles, grey conning, came running off the hill (about 30-40m away) and started whapping me upside the head)
