Allo, I'm an AS from Valcyn and from time to time on our fair server there pops up a nice little bit of hide or bone that I can make fair use of.
Unfortunately these hides or bones sometimes pop up on planets that have 'level control', or 'mission caps' as I have heard them called. Usually these missions are capped in large spaceports but if you retreat to outlying area mission terminals, the terminals will issue you the appropriate level of mission for your 'combat level' (I hold the entire level system in low regard, but that's another story). Unfortunately these outlying missions switch, seemingly randomly, to the 'mission cap' level of the planet you're on about 50% of the time, at least for me. This is extremely frustrating since you can only take two lousy missions at a time, another restriction that I don't really care for in the least.
My question is, can this be avoided?
I've tried:
1. Only taking missions that were >1400 m from the mission terminal; did not work
2. Only taking mission that were >1400 m from the mission terminal and did not come wiithin 1000 m of an township or spaceport; did not work
3. Only taking missions from the shuttleport in the farthest boondocks on the planet, away from everything else; did not work.
Interestingly Rori does not seem to have this problem despite not being an adventure planet. Since the devs know about this bug and obviously have no intention of fixing it, if there's a way around it I would surely appreciate finding that way out. And for you rangers on Valcyn, thanks for taking me on that hunt a few weeks ago; that was some damn good bristley hide.

Where is your proof that "the devs know about this bug and obviously have no intention of fixing it"? Did the dev's ever state this explicitly? If so, hyperlink please.

What I'm referring to there is the existence of this bug and it's failure to be addressed since the CU came out. Along with many many other bugs, it got past the 'hump' (one major publish since it came into being) without being addressed. If you look at the MO of the makers of this fine product, you'll see that they have a poor track record of fixing bugs that make it past the two month mark. Intuitional logic says, if they know it's working some of the time, and if they continue to push untested content out onto live, then this bug will never be addressed. It's simply not that important to them.
Thank you for your extremely helpful post, however. I assume from your addressing my question with a question that you have no answer for me. If anyone else does happen to know of a tried and true wayI can avoid this bug; that person I would love to hear from.

As much as I've played, I'd have to say that the answer is no, there is no way around it right now. For planets such as Naboo, most of those creatures are meant to be weak, so a lot of times you can get level 80 mission, but find level 16 creatures surrounding it. One thing you can do is try to pick your missions a little more carefully. Here is an example:
On Naboo, both kaadu and faamba drop leathery hide, correct? But faamba are naturally supposed to be harder whereas kaadu are faily weak. If you aim to get faamba missions, you're less likely to run into bugged missions.
That's what I've noticed at least.

When you get a level 78 mission only to find level 16 creatures around it, that's a bug.
If you want to get past the CL cap thing on missions, try a player city that's an Improved Job Market.

So, do you have definitive proof that the devs "know it's working some of the time"? If so, please hyperlink.

Believe it or not the devs are not aware of all bugs. They are only a small group of people who are listening to the voices of many thousands. For me to say "They know about the trap xp bug and are ignore it" is just about the same as your saying. Theres no proof one way or another.
The forums are a place to get things fixed. If we make this problem aware to the scout and ranger correspondents they can forward the information along to sit in a pile like all of their other posts.

Talus missions in the NPC cities suck. Talus missions out of our PC city reflect my CL.
Dunno where you were, personal experience for me.

The poster as you can see refers to this as a problem that is still occurring. This post is from the test center forums dated 5-18.
Not that you seem to care what people think, oh helpful one. This has also been /bugged at least 20 times (that I know of) on valcyn alone in the past month. They know it exists, and it's not a priority, or it would've been fixed. Hyperlink this

Quoth JBMat,
> Talus missions in the NPC cities suck. Talus missions out of our PC city reflect my CL.
I've given up on missions from our player city on Talus. Occurrences of this bug now seem to be the rule rather than the exception for our guild.
I wonder if area population has something to do with it. Not only is our city a mere 2km away from another rank 4 city but we've recently had a mini influx of Jedi grinding from our mission terminals (we're near to the edge of the map and far from starports). The lay of the land makes taking missions to the east impractical and the aforementioned Jedi want to avoid going south lest they run into the other town. Hence a bunch of missions are spawned in the same general area.
Having said that I have yet to see any such "nerfed lairs" on Tatooine so take my theory with a pinch of Ryoo's salt.
