Thread: Publish 20 respec?

If after the changes are made and we can no longer "stomach" the the overwhelming power of the Ranger class, will they issue another respec? I am very new to master Ranger (after publish 18) so I wasn't here for the one they issued to everyone else. I worked hard and fast to get to Master only to find out halfway there the class was getting nerfed even more. I have no interest in grinding for Jedi, but I might bail if given the option.

Dont expect a respec for this. Its actually kind of sad that your asking for it. If you bail out well fine. Just grind up a new profession. It wont take to long in a group.

People are way to used to respecing

I asked if there was going to bea respec, not what you thought about it. Whether you approve/disapprove of the function does not concern me. I don't recall asking for the respec--I only asked if there will be one. Whether there is or isn't one, if I decide that Ranger does not suit me, I will change professions one way or the other. Thanks for your response though.

It's probably because the pop-tarts are getting fixed.

First your premise that we are being "nerfed" is incorrect. The p dart is broken, causing the target's AI to turn off and allowing us to solo creatures that are not meant to be soloed by mere Rangers. Pub 20 will merely fix this situation. Those of us who have been around a while will revert to our standard ways of hunting and still be able to harvest some decent creatures, and with help will be able to harvest the big ones.

Why a respec? If you had done any research at all you would have known that the p dart was broken and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that it will be fixed. If you came in simply to be uber and l33t, sorry, you picked the wrong profession. Instead we are probably the weakest profession for the amount of skill points spent. Yet many of us thrive in it. Real "Rangers" know how to adapt, improvise and overcome.

Your original post says to me you are one of the many "rangers" who will not be around once Pub 20 hits. Hope you find a profession that suits you. I'd recommend ID.

/agreed We are not being nerfed. Just SOME of our skills fixed. There is so much about this profession that "pwns", not least the money making potential, that, frankly, saying we are being nerfed cos of the p dart situation, is plain insulting. And to answer your question.....there is absolutely no chnace of a respec for that reason.

Technically we were not nerfed...scout was nerfed. The p-dart is not a Ranger trap but we were able to use it to its full advantage because of our trapping mod. To my memory Rangers have not been nerfed just forgotten. As for the Respec...no we will not recieve another one.

IMO Jedi is highly overrated and thier forums is full of nothing but whining little kids. And the vast majority of the whining comes from Ebay babies that got thier Jedi without working for it and they die because they dont know how to use it effectivly.

Granted the only trap getting fixed is the p-dart because it gave to high a advantage by causing the AI to break allowing Rangers to solo the Krayt Dragon without even getting dirty. The other traps however are still broke and do not do what they are designed to do.

The final decision is yours in the end. And please do not take offence from the some of the Rangers here. We are a tight knit group and some of us are still upset that people respec'd over to Mranger just for the p-dart bug.

Rangers lead the way.

A Ranger is a more elite soldier who arrives at the cutting edge of battle by land, sea, or air. I accept the fact that as a Ranger my country expects me to move further, faster and fight harder than any other soldier.

The thing is, you shouldn't care about being a Ranger because you can be successful at killing things. If you want to be the best, ranger is not for you. As many have said, ranger is a lifestyle, not a profession. You have to love it.

Actually, I could care less about the P-Darts. I thought when I started that traps would besuch that you set them down and lured a creature over them. The waythis game is designed, they are simply a type of grenade. I don't recall seeing any trappers in movies throwing big heavy steel traps 40 meters at animals. As for the profession "not being nerfed" you can tell yourself whatever you want. Maybe it has only been forgotten after all. Although, after reading this forum I see that the camps actually used to serve a purpose and at least one of the traps is completely broken. Also, they gave away all the Ranger specials to the other classes. I know this has been talked about many times over so I will not re-hash it all, but Iagree with many folks here that believe that for the amount of skill points we have to put into Ranger the rewards have not been forthcoming. Maybe there will be a revamp in the future and if that is the case then those who do stay willhopefully be rewarded.

As for doing research.....No I did not do very much research before I started as I stated above. It is after all only a game and I treat it as such. I simply became a little jaded when after I progressed through the Ranger tree I find that my defense against animals islower than a smugglers would be. As for image designer....you could do some of that while sitting in your camp.

This message was never intended to be an attack on the profession because as of right now I happen to also be a part of it. If you took it too seriously as I can see by some of the responses then I think you need to take a look at at yourself. I never attacked anyone nor did I slam the profession. I have just as much right to be a little jaded about my skills as I look back on the points it takes to be a Ranger. If I had picked Ranger for just the P-Dart then your ranting would be well placed. That was not not the reason however. It just might have been the straw that broke the camels back as I was already very disappointed with my defense stats against creatures this profession should dominate. I also agree with the last post in that you have to like what you are doing and now I don't once I see the whole picture. I agree with you frankenstienmonster about the Jedi profession. It seems like it might be more oriented to kids and is something that does not interest me anyway. I would never have that kind of time to spend on this game anyway.

This is my last post on this and I hope you guys don't take it the wrong way. I would rather use any free time to play and not spend it bantering.

Please call me Franky...its easier to type. Even though you stated that you are not going to respond again...I am writing this anyway in the off chance that you come back and read it.

I think this whole topic went way out of hand .... and is a product of miscommunication. I will not speak for the other posters as that is not my right or intention.

Personally I apologize if I said anything that might have offended you in any way....as the quoted post above appears that you are upset. Please do not take offence at what was said before or after ...because as you said this is a game and should be treated as such.

But please bear in mind that a great deal of players here have worked very hard on thier characters and put in a fair amount of money to play it. Im not saying that you have not as well...Im just saying bear that in mind. I myself take pride in my characters ...both in this game and other games(on the computer or tabletop).

I believe IMO that the miscommunication happened because of one word. "/respec" Ever since the p-dart bug the ranger proffession has had a big increase in population....because people wanted to take advantage of the exploit while it was in effect. But now that it is getting fixed they do not have a way out other than grinding out another proffession...which maked them frustrated. Before the /respec the Ranger community was very small because it is not a high impact proffession that can deal out damage in PVE or PVP. Yes a great deal of what we have is not working...but we try to work with what we have and make the best out of the situation. Just like in life if a problem comes up you have to deal with it or turn around and run from it....either way you have to face the consequences. And not unlike real life other people cause the problem and you are stuck dealing with it. It matters not what you do in life most problems you face are created by other people and it is your job to figure it out. Rangers are the same way....we are not combat heavy and personnally I dont care to be because that would take away the feel of the proffession.

I agree with you in that I believe that we should have a higher defence against creatures because that is what we fight. But since we dont we have to find a way to take the creature out and be wary of our limitations. As for doing research...well I will admit that I did not do reseach on the proffession myself. I did that for 2 reasons, A) there is book knowledge then there is experience. you can learn everything man has done in the world but it means nothing unless you have the experience to back it up. B) as a new player I wanted to to find out for myself on what I can do and not do to add more flavor to my character.

I jump on the boards here to find tips on how to do things better and to improve on them. (just learned that a factory could have been making my traps all this time instead of spending 5 min grinding them)

Personally I hope you stay Ranger. The roleplay aspects are better IMHO and the other Rangers that I have met have treated me well in the game and are always willing to hand out advice.

Again please do not take this the wrong way....some of these guys are really grumpy in the morning until they have had thier coffee served from the cute looking Twi'lek dancers in the cantina.
