Loot

  • Added armor segment and segment enhancement loot drops
  • Added the ability for loot items to have randomized stats. The chance and extent of randomized stats is based on the creature's level.
  • Added the ability for the loot system to drop functional crafting components.
  • Added special loot items for a number of creature types. These items can only be found on specific creatures. Many of these items are components which can be used in the crafting process. Start looking.
  • Added exceptional and legendary item/component drops. These items are very rare and are found only on high level creatures.
  • Added the ability for weapons and armor to drop with skill mods.
  • Static (placed) locked crates and dropped locked crates will now have loot in them again.
  • When looting a resource container, the default action is now pickup instead of split.

  • At first I though they sounded great, but I realized that having hunting mastery does not help you get those loot/rare items. this will only increase the number of players killing creature instead on humanoids. Your harvesting skill should increase your chance of looting a rare item.

as it is now hunting/field bioscience is not worth it, putting those points into a combat skill will aid your fighting more then the "creature to hit +15 bonus". the harvesting would be nice if hides sold for a better amount and player would ever look at the stats. and personally creature knowledge is not very important to me.

I'm saying that these are bad changes just that rangers where not factor into them.

Where is this list of changes listed? I looked on the Recent Updates page, and it's not showing anything past August 6th. Was this today? I'm at work and not able to log on to see. Thanks.

Go to that screen. Then you'll notice 2 links. One if for what's in testing, and the other is for what's in development.

    Cool - thanks guys.

Is this listed as linked from somewhere so that I don't have to always have this URL? I mean, is it a link off of a "Testing" page somewhere that I haven't seen/found yet?

    Thanks again.

If you'd have asked me this question 1 month ago I would've agreed with you. However since we're a bit further into the game I definitely don't agree with you.

    Loot = good.

I miss loot, broken instruments that sell for 3cr? Woopeedoo.I remember getting jumped by a red Valarian when I was still a little scout. After an intense fight that lasted 10 minutes I clicked his body and to my amazement he didn't carry anything at all.

Once you skinned your millionth creature and looted the 100th datadisc fights lose some interest in my opinion. I miss the thrill of seeing a cool looted item on the corpse and getting anxious to examine it.

I feel that the addition of loot is a great thing. By the definition of the ranger class, ranger's should be out hunting creatures more than any other class anyways. If creatures are now going to drop rare loot, that will help the ranger who is out, playing their class like it is described, hunting big game. A lot of these new "rare schematics" probably need bone and hide to be created as well, so again the ranger will benefit. I can see nothing good things, with the addition of rare loot.

You miss-undrstand, I'm allfor creature loot. it's having all professions have an equal if not better chance of getting it, is what I don't like.A pure combat skillscharacter can kill more creatures then a ranger/combat character thus has better chance of getting rare items from creature, plus he can kill humanoids a lot easyer so he has a better chance of getting rare lot from them also.

Rangers can't forage for rare items, can't harvest rare items, can't exployer to find rare items, and of course canping and traps won't get you rare items. They are NOT adding rare Hides or Bone items!!!! Just stuff for not NON-ranger characters.

Sir_Voor is, IMO at least asking in a round about way...

    What is a Ranger?

    What Purpose do we serve?

If everyone and their pet Cu Pa can go out and kill things, sometimes easier because they invested in ubber_Rifleman_01_skill_tree, then what value and what purpose is a Ranger, since we are suppose to be the Wilderness "God" of the outdoors.

Maybe I am wrong in what I am seeing in this post, but I get his basic principle of the loot issue. While it is GOOD to have loot, the implementation seems poor.

Looking from the stand point of Harvesting "rare" loot, I am in the middle. You make it like that, then we will have a Galaxy of Rangers... Star Wars Power Ranger anyone?

But what is being said, "implemented" makes it so any Joe Blow can go out and kill ubber_mob_06 and get a nice piece of loot.

Oh it is a never ending vicious cycle the Devs make

Until there is a "defining" role for the Ranger, we all sit in limbo and sulk
