Thread: Can rangers get a 'lure' command?

I'm very frustrated when the whole pack of creatures comes running at me all at once, there should be a master ranger command 'lure' which can be used only by masters (which i am not yet) in which you can use maybe an item made of meat (a lure) to pull a creature out of a pack. This would be quite useful and could be a good accompanymentto hunting parties.

Also a thought, can more items be designed which require huge loads of hide? This would make our profession more useful, ESPECIALLY if non-rangers could only harvest a small number of hides at a time. We need a viable way to make money without destroy mission madness...

I'm totally in favor of a Lure command (it has been suggested in other threads already). This would be a great ability to have when combatting those nasty pack animals.

As for the harvest issue.

Bristley and Scaley hides are used in armor creation, and since armor degrades, there will always be some market for them.

I have sold Leather before, but not much, so I'm not sure what its used for.

Wooly hides are of course used in production of clothing.

Now once they reimplement clothing degradation (you didn't think that that condition was on everything for the fun of it?), Wooly will become more in demand as people replace their clothes.

Chefs apparently require hides (maybe this is where my Leather went), and they also require meat.

Avian meat is used by medics, so high quality bird meat is always a good seller here.

Better quality product will sell better obviously, so keep an eye out for good resource drops (they change just like minerals).

As for the current glut of material out there right now... BULK is your friend. People LOVE buying large stacks of the same material. Never sell goodswith fewer than 300 units in a stack and you should be fine.

If you have poor quality goods, sell them in bulk for grinding material (stacks of 800-1000 sell for 3000 creds on the Bazaar quite easily).

For the better quality goods, simply reduce the stack size. The best quality I sell at 300-400 units for 3000 creds with consistent results.

Good hunting.

I haven't heard anything about new commands, but there are other methods of implementing a 'lure' type....thing.

I suggested a possible implementation of lures in this thread on new trapping ideas:

http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=ranger&message.id=3055

I'd be particularly interested to hear from Mineras on my post in that thread, to know if the things suggested match up well with any sort of hypothetical plans for Ranger traps that couldn't yet be commented on publicly, if such plans existed.

Hello all , want to add my vote for a lure skill , anything besides rescure PLEASE .

Also want to add my vote for a hunting blind in the camp build list that adds 2 or 3 more shots to the ones we can get off before being detected .

Also want to say that I have sold several bundles of Leathery Hide ( Lokian ) for 2200 and 2500 credits . They are bundles of 500 and they sold within 48 hours on the bazaar . So , not much problems for me on that front .

I want to add this to the discussion .

Right now , harvest is the best skill in the Scout .... whooops I mean Ranger skill sets . I think that people that pick up Novice scout just to harvest should have their ability to harvest SEVERLY limited , like 1/4 of the total amount possible , and the amount increases to full the closer one gets to Master Scout and then we start to get the additional resources with points invested in Ranger skills .

I think Rangers should be able to VASTLY harvest more resources than any novice scout . Why this is not in right now defies logic . I really don't see much difference at all between my harvest yields from Novice scout to the third tier of the Ranger Harvesting skill bonuses . WHY WHY WHY is this occuring it defies logic and trivializes our Ranger class .

And I don't know if anyone has ever tried to skin real life big game but it is EXTREMELY difficult and takes much skill and years of practice . But I guess in-game you can learn it with 100 credits and a trip to the nearest scout NPC trainer .

I don't think that Novice scouts should even posses the ability to skin large game PERIOD they should attempt and fail most times ,and get very low quantities when they do succeed .

My thoughts on just one tiny aspect of our hugely broken profession .

Good hunting all

lets just say that there were certain things about traps in the designer email that were very 'alluring'.

I really liked the Group Mask scent idea that was mentioned in another thread. If I knew that was coming it would go along way in making the decision to go Ranger.

I want to provid a scouting service to small groups and a group maskscent would be great for that!

let me 'place' things in perspective about 'lures' and 'traps' - the designer liked the idea of lures.

Still havent seen anything on a lure... any more rumours about it or how it will work/be used? Item? Skill? Ability?

Yeah hides/meat/bone really can be a good money making skill if you can find the right buyer. I accumulated 20k leathery hides from all my pre-nerf baz nitch killing, and I sold the entire stack to someone for 90k. Not a bad deal at all IMO, only took about5 daysof hunting on dath a few hours a day. Wooly hide is really the highest in demand, and if you can get 5k stacks or so you could easily sell em for 20-25k a piece to most tailors. As a master ranger you really can harvest considerably more hide then a master scout, I'd say by about 25% or so. So make use of that, harvest like mad and sell it, good supplimental income.
