Thread: Ranger trapping 4 in half a day...

I've seen similar tips before, but here's what I did to get to trap master in half a day. I went to Dantooine and found lots of medium-high level MoBs clustered close together near the outposts. I would find an isolated red con and pull it into a yellow lair or vice versa. I usually got incapd, but once that happened the nest aggroed on the red con. When I recovered from the incap, the red con would be surrounded by yellow cons...serving as perfect tanks. I would then spam traps on the red con for 500-600 XP per trap. I could get 10-20K XP from a single creature. Just make sure you have many different types of traps. An added bonus is that you can fire away at the creature with your blaster or whatever in complete safety and get 1-3K weapon XP as well. I even sent in my baby desert eopie to land a token blow to get me close to 1000 CH XP for some cons.

The best success I had was with the voritor lizards (or whatever) and dragging them into a bol or bol crusher nest.

I don't really consider this an exploit, it's just using good battle tactics. It took longer to find trap training than it did to get the XP.

BTW. Ranger traps have been useless for me. The P-dart is still the only reliable one we have.

Good tip. To add, the difficulty of the trap doesn't affect the exp given. So I will usually make a butt load of wire mesh traps (lowest level) and throw a few stacks at a time. Since they stack, you can unload couple stacks and get exp from all of them if they land.

As an armor wearer, I would recommend removing any armor before you try this tactic. Letting something hit you often enough to incap. you would be quicker without armor, and there's no need to hurt the durability of your armor if you aren't trying to avoid damage anyhow. I'd imagine a Voritor could shred a couple of layers off that shiny new Chestplate you just bought.

Bull Sharnaffs on Corellia work very well for this. Level 35 non-killer mob, ~450 xp per trap. Phec Dart, 4 others types, repeat.

Or try this:

Go to any of the hunting planets - Lok, Dantooine, Endor, Yarvin4, find a big mofo creature that you can root (adhersive mesh), time the root so you know when it runs out (unequip your gun to prevent you from shooting back and breaking the root). Now simply throw one adhersive mesh at the creature followed up by as many assorted traps you have time for, re-root, rinse and repeat.
Rooting a mob usually gives you 30-60 secs to spam away traps before you need to re-root, and the big mofos usually gives you anywhere between 400-800 trap xp / trap.

I came up with this after i had my trapping IV, none the less i cried and had to stop using traps realizing how fast you can get to advanced trapping IV.
