Thread: Camping +10
another stupid little thing...
it's like medicine use skill...if i provided you a camp that I crafted higher than you can make yourself at the moment then you can't place it...thing is this eliminates another potential revenue producer for rangers as I've had players offer me 5k for High Tech Field Base Camps - but, it's of no use to them
think the devs were just trying to make up another skill modifier for us to seem like we were "getting" something - it's useless!!
how about a better creature to hit bonus than the (+10) total a master ranger gets...mask scent for a group...or being able to harvest 2 items per creature??
something that would be useful
I'm about 20k away from the last box of Frontier and I failed 4 camps in a row! So that camping skill is worthless.
Did you know that each Field Base is worth 130 GC XP? I gained 11,000 GCXP just crafting Camp last night! Those foolish Artisan don't know how easy it is for us Rangers to gain GC XP

The only thing the camping +'s do is lower the failure rate on assembling camps from what I can tell.
I'm afraid that isn't true. Sadly you fail just as much as a newbie (very sad, isn't it?) unless you have an engineering skill. The camping value is a rating of what kind of camp you can erect. The way it is now a Ranger can give a HQ camp to a scout who can make the multi-person but not the HQ and erect it. I believe you need Camping 30 to erect a HQ and that would be about the level. Note it says "moderate camping skill required". The lower camps (multi, dual and single) require NO SKILL to erect and a non-scout with 0 camping can erect it. Oh ya, and once he does, he will begetting Survival points...
you are able to give people camps from the scout and ranger line. If your camping skill isnt at certain levels you cannot deploy them...
For example,
Myself (ranger, frontieer 4) was on a military exercise the other night in Anchorhead and the squad leader (survival 4) that was running the exercise thought it would be cool to have a nifty field base to call his rear rally point. When it came time to deploy, he couldn't because he didn't have the necessary camping skill required....
Hope that helps...
