So how do you guys know where to go to get the good stuff? i.e. Fansites, Guildmates, etc?

My guild shares this information. Aside from the craftsmen taking a keen interest in where to get the goodstuff they need, I am 1 of 2 master rangers in my guild and we are constantly updating eachother when we find good material or notice the recource shifted to a lower quality.

I've tried keeping a running log and treid such logs on finsites, but there are too many recources and they shift too frequently for me to bother keeping updated. However 20 people keeping an eye out for good organics for eachother with 2 master rangers actively hunting for an minimum of 10 hours a week spells much lower overhead for guildies, and lower prices to guildies.

Animal resources roll over just like mineral, gas, flora, wind and solar. Sometimes, a given planet will even have 2 or 3 of a certain type, say Nabooian leather, and you can actually get all 3 of them from the same critters in the same pod. It is completely random. You simply have to be on top of it, go to each planet, kill something and see what it has for attributes.

Once you find something you like, keep an eye on the bazaar. Most folks just sell the stuff and wouldn't know good from bad. Most folks focus on one quality and think that makes all the difference. This simply is not true. There are some attributes which are more frequently useful than others (the usual conductivity + quality for metals), but as counter example, for Axidite iron, I might need only Unit toughness, so even if the conductivity and overall quality were 1000, and the Unit Toughness was only 200, it would be a useless metal for that purpose. The same holds for all materials. You have to know what it is going to be used for and what attributes are important for *that* use.

Now, mind you, any metal with 1000 conductivity and 1000 Overall Quality would be stripped out of the ground in, say, 3 minutes, but it still would not help in other recipes.

A lot of trial and error, and good word of mouth If in doubt ask an active master (insert resource user class) odds are they will know whats dropping where. the people I supple will often send me tips with requests. It would be an qwful lot of work to try and track it all, you need to network.
