Thread: Proposal: Conceal TEF

As it stands now...Conceal only has two real uses over using Mask Scent:

1) Its easily the best choice when simply exploring or trying to get from one point to the other. If you are hunting, its not worth the expense.

2) For players who have no mask scent at all who are part of yor group(full time Doctors for example). For these people, using a Cammo kit when in really hostile territory is a good idea. Plus, since they are generally just healing people, they won't break their cammo. For this, Conceal is great.

But, for your typical day of Rangering and harvesting resources...9 times out of 10, you are better off with Mask Scent. Conceal does have its uses for sure, but it just doesn't have the incentive factor with the breaking in combat.

What I'd like to propose: a conceal TEF. Specifically, you engage in combat and conceal will temporarily "drop" for the length of combat and for a minute afterwards. After that, conceal re-engages.

Since conceal has such long duration, a TEF style of breaking would be more than acceptable, and strike a balance between what the devs want, and what we want. For mask scent, that can remain unchanged since you can simply re-apply that at no cost after comabt. Its simply the cost factor that is detering the use of conceal right now when hunting. And if we could get some of that conceal time back via a TEF style of breakage, then I'd think that a fair compromise.

Sounds good to me, I mean conceal is an advanced skill, and to me that means it should be better than maskscent. By 'better', I mean that if I have the advanced skill, I should choose to use it more often than the lower skill. The way it is now, I'm using my less advanced skill more often. This tef idea sounds good to me, as it makes it more feasable to use conceal over maskscent.

Agree with the TEF idea. Totally reasonable, tho I doubt if we will see this anytime soon. Makes sense.

Another use for conceal... some towns are a right pain to get out of, with the generic thugs infesting the outskirts. What I did today, for free even, was concealplayers trying to leave town to do their quests, letting them get out of town and have a fighting chance of completing the quest. No, not Master Marksman, Pistoleers, Commandos... the true needy ones, Artisans, Dancers, some Medics....

Made their day, and I wonder if I can set up a shop doing this???

I kinda agree with this. I don't like conceal breaking when initiating combat, I don't mind it dropping when I get hit. However, I don't think it should drop to all creatures in the area. If it drops to one type in a particular area then others nearby and out of their normal interest area, should not notice you and have the opportunity to attack.

Example: Killing Mamiens on Yavin. I attack they all know who I am and where I am.A Kliknik or Gackle bat that is 60m from me, which is out of their interest area (from my experience), should not know that I am there.

So a TEF on Conceal would help alleviate some issues I have with the new Conceal breakage at combat initiation.

Heh.. At first I thought your proposal was to allow us to conceal faction TEFs, and gotgeared up toflame you.

This is similar to what others have proposed already, and I agree. I don't think the camouflage should just magically disappear when you engage combat. Doesn't make sense, and doesn't really make the cost of camokits worth it, imo.

The Kitten's Diary, Day 781: I have discovered a most delightful way of making life miserable for my captors. Yesterday, I ate the woman's precious begonia, and today I have dismembered the amaryllis in the bedroom window. She is furious over the loss of her darling house plants! I find it highly gratifying.

i actually thought he did mean from faction TEFs, which would actually be cool - kinda like a ninja slipping back into the shadows after throwing a dart at an enemy, to be unseen and unheard immediately..

perhaps, some other updates on it would be like D&D's sneak attack regarding stealth... i keep looking at that tree and wondering where their real power is, especially if theyr eout in the wild all the time youd figure they could at least kill something with their traps.

"Specifically, you engage in combat and conceal will temporarily "drop" for the length of combat and for a minute afterwards. After that, conceal re-engages."

This is smart idea... I will make a note of it.
