Thread: A few thoughts on Area track...
As I entered ranger I decided to run through the tracking skill first. I did this for a couple of reasons, but primarily it was the result of a krayt hunt I had attended. It was fantastic to move through the hunt being considered a comoddity simply because I had AreaTrack. I wasn't doing the most damage, but I was definitely helpful in being the person who could get our group closest to a Krayt fastest. At the time there had been a second hunting party that was not interested in sharing the wealth, ultimately it became a Krayt race. Without a ranger to aid them they almost always came up short of the dragon.
Anyway... my only real complaint with the skill right now is that I can't sort my results. If I'm out with my CH friends I can't sort to find what critters are closest, or which ones I'm looking for. I guess my suggestion right now would be to make AreaTrack sortable in the same way the bizare is.
I'd like to be able to sort by direction, distance, or creature type. It would be so much more helpful then scrolling through whatare sometimes long long lists of various creatures then trying to rememeber which was where...
Not nearly as important as other things, but just a suggestion.

organized results...like the bazaar....that would be too cool...
"Actually I believe we already have a "tree display" request inour corespondance notes to the dev, yes/no? "
Actually the Treewindow requestwas replaced with a List window with sortable columns.
Extending the range to a 1k wouldn't be bad either better yet would be the entire zone we are in so if we were in the Western Dune Sea anything in that zone would come up. The problem is with the dynamic spawning system stuff doesn't show up all the time because it doesn't spawn until you get within a certain range.
I also believe the devs said we will be able to track a specific creature type once they get that implemented?
"I also believe the devs said we will be able to track a specific creature type once they get that implemented?"
Yes, /track will fit that bill...
I believe the implementation will spawn a new lair of the selected creature for you to locate, but there is very little information regarding it at the moment.
Hey NRaas, would it be possible to have an "all" option for creature/person/player when we reach master Ranger? I think this would be useful when hunting because I've lead some folks right into (or nearby)red NPC camps following the trail of a creature.. if I saw that there were bad guys in the path when tracking, it would have saved us some time going around.
I know we can just track again, but it would be convient to track all in one swoop. Just a thought.

Sounds like a good suggestion to me. ![]()
Hit /areatrack three (3)times before selecting a track type. This will give you three seperate windows that you can now have running three seperate tracks at the same time.
Try it, it works and it helps by keeping all the track types seperate so you can find your animal tracks on one window while using the other two windows to know what/ whereto avoid.
3other suggestions, since I use it quite often *Tracking 4*:
1. Have a refresh option. Used only when standing still.. would allow you to see the list and refresh as you run around...
2. Have an option to lighten the window so you can still see your main screen - it would help in keeping it up while you run around... and
3. Once you click on the icon, it gives you a green arrow or something to at least point you in the general direction. I sometimes see a Ronto 200m to the SE, so i have to hit ctrl V to see which directio nI need to head, then turn to the position and go. It would be great if you could just know whcih direction it is based on clicking the animal/NPC/person.... esp with PCs since they move so quickly....

I believe using the interface opacity slider will affect the tracking window too?

Have you noticed the four arrow type things around your radar that turn when you turn, one of them is a little larger than the other three? That's a compass, and the large arrow points north.
