Everyone should take a quick hike over to the smuggler forums and read the Design threads GM posted, brilliant, Im actually tempted to make a new character on another server and make him a smuggler. If the Ranger revamp is anything near as interesting as what they have planned for smuggler, Ill be a happy chappy

I agree. Rangers should be thankful that when the time comes, we will be having GreenMarine in charge of our revamp. The man really knows how to make things interesting.

I knew back when GreenMarine made suggestions for the initial Ranger changes that he was a good developer. The problem is we never even got all those changes actually scheduled in and developed. But, you are right in that when they do finally get around to hooking Rangers up, we have the best dev for the job. We have to hope they don't move him to some other project as a promotion because he is so good.

Actually, that has happened once already with JTL. I am happy, but surprised that he came back, and I hope that he stays in Galaxies.

But I've noticed something I find interesting..... Let's see which professions are getting/ have gotten major revamps:
Chief
Image Design
Droid Engineer
Smuggler
Squad leader
Ranger
As far as I can tell GM is responsible for all but 2 of those, ID and DE. From what I've seen GM does great work, but it's this a developement team? Why are nearly all the major revamps assigned to one person? I'm sure I'm missing something but I find it odd that those aren't spread out across more people in the Dev team so they could do more than 1 revamp at a time.

Is he the only guy working on these really? Or is he just the main contact point/idea guy. There must be other people to validate, debug, adjust the rest of the code to make sure nothing conflicts... but I know zilch about software coding.

I would have thought the he was just the lead ofthe part of the dev team on those professions but when he talks it is "I didn't have time," "I coded a put a placeholder into the code," "I wanted to do this or that" ..... no real mention of working with anyone else on the dev team. The impression I get is GM is thedev actually doing the majority of the work in those areas. Not just one of many on the project. If that is the case, then it's no wonder things take so long, one person can only do so much.

I'm curious to see what they'll do with camps. They're pretty useless at present, but what would we even use them for at all with cities and swoops so commonplace?

Check out Modular Camping.
That's the only way I see for camps to have increased function. If fact, it'd be a way for RANGER camps to have function, as opposed to Scout camps.
Modular Camping would allow you to put up a rocket launcher on your base (if, say, you're in a dangerous area). If they do that, who even needs a camp that repels aggros. If they attack me...well, let's just say I'd like my rancor well done, please. HTFB's would be able to hold a stage, allowing dancers, musicians to cure BF in the wild and giving them someplace other than the cantinas to go. Heck I know people that love dancing (not AFK dancing) who want to get out and kill stuff, but with all the skill points spent on entertaining, they're basically stuck.
Anyway, Modular Camping (read the whole thread please---I believe it's still under the Outdoorsman proposal) would give camps a reason to exist and Ranger camps a decided advantage over scout camps.
