After getting pounded into the ground by another smart mnouthed IMP I started to thinkl ablut how I couuld get enough combat skills to offset ther daily beatings I'm getting.
I spent some time thinkig about the probelmbyrunning thepadawan character on TC2. After several days of uisng a training lightsabte to rack up an amazing 1.4k worth of XP.The skill set I chose didn't allow any combat commsands for my character so I just had to let "auto fight" do the job while I fixed dinner.
I decided to go to Dathfor a little hunting. I might actually get some XP. I din't. I got killed by a rancor and lost 15k XP; I'm now in the XP hole by over 14,000XP.
While I was spending the mandatory 10 minute waiot in the star port I had the pleasure of watching 2 Jedis duel.OneJedi kept choking the other and the other Jedi kept tossing his light sbre andhis oppenent around the area. for curiosity's sake I watched both Jeid's ZHAM bars. Guess what? Neither players HAM bars lost very many points and the points refilled between hits.
It appears that Jedis can't vbe beasten by other Jedis. Invincability must be nice.
Anyway I realized that thedevs don't want a true woodman type of character as a ranger and that has been made very clear.
I asked for the ability to gather and identify samples of plants. any idiot standing in a field or a forest can see and identify almost every plant in sight. The idiot maynot be able to determine the potentcy of the poison ivy he sees but at least he sees it. Our master rangers not only can't see the immediate environment but is reduced to grubbing in the dirt for what - one maybetwoworthless melons. Inow the value of the forage items I have a whole pack of them I drag out top get laughs from thedocs and medics in the guild.
The response _ We don't want to clone a skill from another profession, We don't want to upset the artisans.
Well I'm ticked that the devs clonmed our tracking and gave it ot the bounty hunters. the devs don't mind upsetting the rangers.
If I wanted I could probaly, maybe, (really long shot) find a ranger player that hasn't asked for more combat skills. Ihave master dancer in my guild that can out shoot, out hunt and out kill me. She's not a ranger.
I'm pure ranger - Ican'tpost a title for any combat prof. I spent all of my skill pointsonranger.
Let's see
1. I can only work with half the environment and mostof the crestures in that environment uses very little effort to chew me upand spit me out.
2. The traps I useare only effective long enough forto take one shot with ny little pistol.
3. The high tech camp looks nice but no one wants to waste good hunting tiome sitting aaround in it.
4. Areatrack may just quite possibly consistently find the same crestures 2 times in a row but usually it doesn't.
5. Camo won't work against NPCs. I still can't figure the logic behind that one.
6. It apperas that a Master ( you fill in the prof name(except ranger)thqt has novice scout skills can out harvest amaster range.
Who needs a rangers.
I'm dropping ranger all the way down to noivice scount and picking up Master Commando and possibly Master swordsman with artisan survey ! thrown in.
I may also give up my Colonel rank in the alliance, resign from the alliance and turn mercenary.
If the devs do decide to allow rangers to fly space craft I'll return to rangerdom just so I can become a bus driver.
Best ofLuck to those of you who stick with ranger. I'll wave as I pass by.

Good hunting to you. As long as you are killing Imps, that is good
.

Possibly on TC-Corbantis? Therefore not a permanent thing. They devs have been doing many things on the Jedi test servers that won't make it to live (perma buffs, free items to get you started, etc.).

Ummmmm...I am a Master Ranger (been one since last summer/fall) and soon to be a TK Master with Novice medic. If you spent all the Training points on Master Ranger, you will still have pleanty of points left over to master a combat profession of some sort. You will probably even have some left over.
Please dont bring the guys/gals here down because you are frustrated. We, that have been in this profession for a long time, happen to love our profession and it is as much a part of us as the air we breathe. If you are unhappy and dont have the patience for it......Ranger isnt for you bro. A Ranger is more than a stone cold butt-kicker...we hunt and fight with our heads as much as our muscle. When lifes decisions give you lemons...make tea.

In my opinion the best combat profession that goes with ranger is creature handler. Alot of people knock it since it got nerfed, but I still find it one of the most enjoyable professions in the game. May take me alittle longer then TKM's to take down lairs, but they still go down either way so I am content with it. Also being a ranger enhances that profession with creature to hit bonuses. There is not very many places I can't solo on my own and if you have good or decent pets alot of the time ya can stand back and just heal them mabye afew times while they take out your target. As for the camps there have been plenty of hunts where I been out with my guild and a member had to return to our city to craft some more supplies. So those suped up camps do actually have a useful purpose. Ya just gotta find a group to do large all day hunts with that does more then just ride, get off bikes, kill everything in 1 minute, get back on bikes as you pull up. lol

I dunno. I used to be a Ranger/CH and I never felt as powerful as people who took weapon professions. The problem being the forgot about the creature and went straight for me. Since I am a wookiee and had no armor, I died nice and quick. This of course relates to PvP only, saince the creatures will indeed attack my pet first. I always wished Ranger had some combat elements to it.
