To me ranger is a calling, a profession of the few.
Not anymore
since the rise of the DWB and the hunt for Black Suns every git and his dog has track iv.
Once we were few and far between was a nice change to meet another ranger and chat about stuff but now chimeara is awash with part time rangers all wanting mandy armour.
Well they can have it.
I have decided to become a combat medic and my goal in life is the poison anyone with tracker title untill they get bored with ranger and go doc or fencer or anything they want.
Thanks also to SOE for yet again buttf**kin full time rangers to please the FOTM brigade.
I still love ranger was always my fav profession but the part timers have ruined it for me.
to the full timers enjoy my friends i hope you still love it too
to all the part timers just because ranger gets to wear mandalorian armour is no reason why you should become one its a way of life not a set of armour.

yep... I still love Master Ranger...
but my complaint about it has recently been the fact that scouting skills dont translate into tangible hunting and killing skills.
I would imagine that once they find their full suit of BH armor, they will go commando and be able to wear it... so your inflated ranger population should burst soon.

Basically you're saying that ranger equals tracking IV. Sadly, that is true at the moment. The 3 other trees are not as effective as we would like to see them. This should be more of a plea/reason to fix those trees then to curse at SOE for making one of our trees attractive to a larger player base. Besides, if they run a query on the database and see 99% of players with ranger skillsonly having the tracking line that is a good indication that ranger needs some serious work.

The ranger profession is perfect for the role-playing community and adds some great content to the game. The problem is much of our abilities are nerfed since buffs/foods/armor and everyone can solo now. Basically the need for group hunts has gone by the wayside.
This game is what you make it though - whenever we go hunting we constantly drop a tent and sit to chatfor a bit about upcoming strategies, events, etc.
Once the holo grind goes away everyone will settle into a chosen profession and (I hope) the social aspect will return to the game.

bringing a simple cardgame like Pazaak into the SWG, will no doubt also enhance player interaction. Sitting in a camp..healing some wounds while playing a game with a hunting buddy. So much potential

Exclusivity and usefulness are probably mutually exclusive notions. If it really bothers you that others have what you have, perhaps squad leader is the profession for you, lol. Once the ranger revamp happens, I think most of us hope that there will be lots of rangers, and lots of ranger dabblers. That would be a sure sign that they "fixed" us.
And about the 3 min thing... are you saying that a whole ton of people suddenly picked up tracking 4 in the 3 minutes between the time you picked up master ranger and dropped it or what? lol
Oh, and as far as playing paazak in a camp, is that an endorsement for a "casino" module in the modular camps? lol, seriously though, I somehow doubt you'll be able to play that outside of casinos. I don't know that, but that's my guess.

yes, but his point is a whole bunch of folks are getting tracking to find the mercs. They think tracking will help them get that armor.

No the reason i had master for 3 minutes was because i was doing myranger xping the hard way by actually camping and trapping etc (call me daft if u want i already know
) too actually learn my craft just to watch with the emergance of one bunker and one bit of "ohh thats nice gear" forthe whole ethos of the profession to bemurdered.
Yes I am being whiney but i think theres more to ranger than being a loot whore and basically thats what 90% of track iv rangers are the other 10% prolly bounty hunters and its a useful skill for them i have nothing wrong with that ,its loot whores that have ruined it for me.
Maybe other servers dont have this bad a problem on chimeara go to yavin 4 or endor you can hardly go 10 feet without seeing <tracker> floating over someone's head.
Make black suns a POI so the campers can camp it and give tracker back to the rangers.
Sorry to be so whiney but they have ruined my already nerfed profession one step too much for me and i'm gonna try some pvp fun instead.
Have fun all you rangers there's an animal somewhere what needs a ass whoopin.
