Thread: Intresting/dumb? idea for elite group of Rangers.

I do not know how many Rangers/Scouts there are , let alone how many role play. I have been thinking (If there was enough support.)of getting a group of Rangers together to form an "unofficial" guild on one of the least inhabited planets.Off where it is a decent trip to get to, and somewhat dangerous.

The purpose of this "guild" is to form a Ranger/Scout community that dedicates alot of its time to mastering the art of combat. (I know this is only a game, and there probably is not much of an art to combat, but bare with me for a moment ). I was thinking of recruting some of the best Ranger fighters, be they melee, or ranged..and have them help research techniques for melee vs melee, melee vs ranged, ranged vs ranged, ranged vs melee, also group drills in the arts of group vs group,of course these lessons would include techniques for different PvE situations as well.

We would set up a building to act as the focal point of the guild, a few names I thought of are (Ranger Hall, Hall of Rangers, Counsel of Rangers,or my personel favorite, Divine Warrior Training Hall. ) these of course are just some ideas to throw around. The main purpose of this building would of course be the central hub of the guild, you get the point . And inside this building would be some kind of terminals etc. that list names of all those that are Master Rangers on the server. I dont know how well this would work, or how it would be recieved..but maybe the names of those that are Apprentices as well..maybe have the Master/Apprentice rule in effect?

And how I was thinking maybe that could work is this....say I am a new scout, looking to master Ranger, but I also want to master Pistoleer, I then consult with some of the Rangers, or check out the Wall of Rangers , and find out who has a skillset that most resembles the ones I want, If he is accepting Apprentices, I then contact said Ranger and from that point on we hunt together as often as possible, so that the Master can teach me the skills of the trade(so that I can learn the best way to utilize my skillset that I am looking to create ).

Forgive me for doing such a long post but bare with me.

PROGRESSING THROUGH RANKS.

Here is how I thought teaching skills could work. Only Masters can teach someone fourth tier skills, those who are not masters can only train third on down. For each fourth tier skill, they send the apprentice out on a quest of some sorts that the master has predetermined, and set into motion. For instance I know that my apprentice is almost ready to graduate his fourth tier in trapping, I then get together with three friends of mine, and send them to different locations on the same planet or different planets, its up to the master.

Friend #1 heads off to some remote location on Rori, Friend #2 is also on Rori, Friend #3 is somewhere on Naboo, I then give my apprentice the waypoints for these contacts, and if he/she is doing quests for the tracking line, then the master would not give him/her the waypoints, just tell them the general area and have them track the contacts down. Each contact has a parcel that they have put something in, (the master of course will already know what is in the parcels, and his friends will inform him when they have made contact.). As soon as the apprentice returns with the parcels he hands them to the master, who in this case takes the items from the bags (one had hide, one bone, the other metal. ), and makes a trap that he names Trapping Diploma, or what have you. He then teaches the apprentice the fourth tier in the trapping line, and bestows upon him the diploma, that he keeps as a trophy. (the diploma could also have the apprentices line of authority, saying that he was taught by me, who was taught by my master, who was taught by his etc.)

When it comes time for the apprentice to graduate to Master Ranger/Scout, and returns victorious from the Master quest, not only could he get a diploma, but also his master could then present him with a gift of Ranger/Scout specific items.

And who knows maybe it would not be a Ranger/Scout specific guild, may be better to have all sorts of professions, who would follow the same guide lines as set down by the counsil members.

Ok that is it, I am done (wipes forehead), throw your ideas back and forth. And remember these are just some thoughts, maybe someone who is intrested in role playing will find it intresting...if not a little long winded

There is a group called The Antarian Rangers. They are throughout all galaxies. I myself am in a guild called "Antarian Rangers" on Tempest and we are affiliated with the Main guild. We are changing our guild name to Xplorer Corps, but the Rangers in my guild are still Antarian Rangers.

If you would like to see who is a Ranger in your galaxy, there is thread just for that.

Good luck to you in your quest. My advice is to check the threads, find a Master in your galaxy, and go with it. If not you can always come here to ask for help.

lol....thanks for the posts guys . Although, Enoshima it was not a question, it was more of an idea. And of course that is what I posted it here for, to tear apart and say this piece wont work, or this piece wont work....or heck the whole idea is a piece of cruddy trash and whoever came up with the idea should be fed to a rancor

I knew about the Antarian Rangers ever since they were trying to decide on a name, and yes I even know about the list of Rangers that are one of the more popular topics.

I have read these quite often, the problem is that even though the Antarian Rangersare a great idea (heck I still want to join them) is that they dont seem to have much of anything I had posted, at least on my server (please, please correct me if I am wrong!! ).

GAH!!!...now I sound like I am dissing on the Antarian Rangers. Please forgive me for that..I have nothing but the deepest respect for them, and have always admired them. Now they will avoid me for all eternity..there goes my chance of ever getting in .

And please forgive me Enoshima if it sounds like I do not appreciate your thoughts, on the contrary I have always enjoyed your posts and admire your commitment to this great community, and lifestyle.

Ok I had better stop now before I dig myself into a deeper hole, and wont need you to feed me to a rancor.
