I am currently have Hunting IV. Can anyone tell me how much more I will be able to harvest from a creature if I get Tracking IV?
I would like to be a resource grinder for one of my friends. I am a Master Rifleman and would like to know the best template to harvest the most bang for my buck, so to speak.

well consider this:
My fiancee is a master musician, with novice scout, and none of the hunting blocks. I am a master ranger. The other day she and I were hunting anglers on yavin 4. After each kill I was harvesting roughly 88 units of meat. She would harvest the same kill for 44 units of meat.
I'd be willing to say that if you're only in it for the harvests, go to hunting 4 and call it good. Your skill points are probably better spent elsewhere if that's all you want from it. no sense mastering a profession for the use of one tree
oops, I meant to clarify a little more.... what I meant to say is that the difference may not be so much as to want to spend the extra skill points. sorry about that.

So, if I get up to Hunting IV under scout and leave it at that, in the example you provided with the Novice Scout/Master Dancer, I would probably get about 60 or so from the harvest. I would not want to spend all those skill points to master Ranger. I could just touch the Tracking IV tree and leave it at that for the harvesting. But, it sounds like it may not be worth the skill points. I would just need to hunt a 1/3 more of the time than I would if I had Master Ranger.

You will be able to harvest more with tracking 4. In game bring up your skills. Ctrl +s. Click on the box of the skill you want. Down in the middle of the skills screen it will give the mods or addtional skills for that specific box.
That way when you qualify for different skills at the same time, you can decide which one you want to train. Saves from doing the horrible thing of surrendering a skill you didnt want, and losing the xp.
