Depends on how combat orientated you want to be ....

Most Rangers (I would guess) have a master combat profession as well as Master Ranger, and a lot of them use the remaining few points in medic,

I'm currently mastering swordsman and CH, then dropping CH as I learn Ranger skills again. I plan to leave myself as Master Swordsman, Master Ranger with enough CH to have a level 19 pet/mount.

CH is great fun - so do what you enjoy.

First off, Welcome to Ranger.

I am a Master Ranger and a Master Creature Handler.

But, I started out as a three class dabbler, working up Ranger, CH and Pistoleer. I stayed with the 3 classes for about 6 months and finally gave up Pistoleer, I went ahead and mastered it before I dropped it down to 0-0-1-1 and used the points to master Ranger and CH.

Ranger and Ch are a great combo and work VERY well together. I use track to hunt all sorts of great animals. Just got 2 Rancors on Dathomir using Areatrack this week.

You don't have to master CH to get some good pets. When I was 3 classes I only had pets up to Cl 27 and did great.

Go to swgcreatures.com and check out the creatures that you can tame, figure out the ones you want and whether mastering CH or just dabbling in it is the way you want to go.

Good Luck to you and Welcome.

Welcome to Ranger. As for CH, it's a fun profession but currently lacks the power of a Master Combat Profession. After the Combat Balance (which shouldn't be too far away), that should change. Just pick a profession that you like and don't worry ifit is the best possible one out there. As long as you are enjoying yourself then don't worry about what professions you have.
