OK , Im lookin for opinions.
I really want the Master Ranger title. But withthe template I want, I have to lose Trapping. It will look like this.
Master Rifleman
Ranger 4/4/4/0
Novice Medic
CH 0/0/0/3
Does not being Master ranger make me any Less a Rnger. Also I will be starting a ranger guild once i reach this goal. I willCreate a new thread for this

Im going for Master Ranger, Master TK, Master Scout (of course) and the 3 management levels of CH. I'm not bothereing with novice medic as I rarely find myself low on HAM when fighting (usually mind) and I can always make a camp and rest between fights.

/standard rant on pets
OK, personal opinion - CH is overrated.
The only use for pets I have seen is to get better missions. I group with a guildie, he pulls a pet, I pull the droid, we get level 50ish missions and off we go. The pet and droid get stored. We hit the mission site - not a solo group as we work faster in tandem - and the only pet that gets called is the droid, to smack the pirate lair, while we waste pirates.
Pets, animal types, for the most part, rely on kinetic damage. Too many high level creatures have decent resists to kinetic. Peko Albatrosses - 100%. DOH. Droids shoot, at least mine do.
Pets are decent tanks - but then again, so are droids. Droids don't need to do tricks, orbe fed (well batteries, ok, same thing), and healing a droid is as easy as healing a pet. Fact is, pet vitality packs work on droids. Droids can have stuff built in, like med modules, very handy. Craft machines, ehhhh.
Droids have one overriding feature - NO SKILL POINTS TO USE. A n00b can use the best droid out there. I use droids as I am not wasting skill points I have in medic (healing me is important, and I also heal those I group with).
Now a minor point that bothers me with both pets and droids. Leakers. MCH is beating on a Rancor lair. Somehow, his 3 pets can't contain the 4th Rancor that popped out of the lair - it aggro's him and ... Taps is played for the MCH. Seen it happen too many times. And the same happens with low level people dependent upon a droid. If the droid poops out, they are so a Lunchable. There is no replacing combat skills. Using pets/droids to boost missions is cool, til it bites you in the butt.
Again, personally - no CH - Master Scout/Ranger/Combat profession and have medic on board to fix owwies. Use droids. Pets are cool, the wow factor is there. But in a fight against something with kinetic resistance, they are about useless for the most part.
/rant off
Trapping- Granted, Ranger traps suck. The dizzy doesn't, the stun might, the area effect is a joke. However - the adhesive mesh has gotten more than one Ranger out of a jam. Stopped a Rancor cold in it's tracks as Ricky Ranger beatus feetus up a hill to heal and regroup.
If and when we get traps that really work - Dev's willing, the river don't rise - the trap line may be worth something. Until then, it is the easiest line to master, and right now, probably the most useless in the Ranger line. I stick to scout traps 99% of the time and they work.

Good template. Simply, being a master ranger are not realyl any better skills. Harvest a tad more really is only thing I can think of. If you werent going rifles then I'd say drop waydaring too and get some more for your buck. I would, but I have fallen in love with that Master Ranger tag of mine =). Its a vanity thing I guess lol.

Even though I am a MCH I have to agree with JB to a certain extent. With Master Rifleman the only thing I use my pets for is to guard me while I whack things. That way I know when they aggro.
Otherwise I use them to pull aggros off of weaker group members (when I hunt with weaker group members lol) as sort of a weird form of rescue.
Try droids before you go CH, then if you still can't resist the Bio Engineered wonders or the fun of taming your own pet, give it a try.

Actually I'll be one of the people who says that CH is useful. I use my pets in several ways. One is Paks weird rescue thingy. When Im out helping my BE wife sample. I put my pets on guard. As soon as something aggros her I use rescue the creature looks at me my pets go in. Now my tanks are the average either because i understand the importance of BE Frankenpets unlike most CH's. Light armor 60 kinectic and 11k HAM. Plus my pets go beyond kinectic damage with poison, disease, knockdown, intimidate and other specials. When im buffed the beasts then to stay packed. But I still like to have them out when im just roaming around. Theres CL53 Cu'pa with Light 40/40 armor and 11k HAM thats about to become my new mount. CH was over-rated back in the graul maul times. Now it just seems like its more misunderstand and way to costly in points.

Plus of course you get that loveable companion with you. I absolutely adore my razor cat Stanely. He may not be great in a scrap, but when he's lying down by my chair in the cantina, I just have to sit back and grin.

Don't ever drop that valuable Wayfaring skill. When TTCS expansion (Tumble To Crawl Speed) hits, everyone will want it

Well you could always train up to Master Ranger, change your title to Master Ranger, then untrain the Trapping line and because of the title bug, you will still have the Master Ranger title.
