Ok we have had a good few threads opening up the last couple of weeks about mistakes the devs have made about certain types of creature resources. Such things as Lantern Birds on Endor having Herbivor Meat instead of Avian.
Id like to compile the known and confirmed cases of resource type bugs and address them all in one well organised thread. Hopefull it wouldnt take much to get the devs to fix these or hand them a copy of this thread to work on in the future.
So there you have it:
Send me your resource type bugs (Pm or reply to this post) and ill get to work on it:

according to a quick check on SWGcreatures;
Endor:
Gurrek Forrest Stalker has no bones. (normal gurreks have animal bones)
noxious squill has no bones or hide
Festering squill has no bones or hide
mantigrue reaper has no bones and it has whooly hide ( a sort of reptillian flying creature )
bark mite burrower queen has avian bone??? (other bark mite variations have no bones at all which is reasonable for insects)
roba pack leader has no bones
Also note that the blurrg family have avian bone. Questionable?
none of these have been confirmed by me as of yet, this is just what I looked up quickly on SWGcreatures. I would trust their information would be pretty accurate, but I think they should be visually confirmed by a ranger in the live game.

Tortons (huge turtles) on Rori have Wooly Hide. Shouldn't it be Leathery or Scaley?
As for the Avian Bones in reptilian creatures like Voritorand Blurrg, I don't have much problem with this since reptiles are commonly considered the progenitors of avians.
I think Avian Bones are used in some cases just to represent light bone structures.

Name - Vir Vur
Planet - Rori
Resource - Avian
Should be - Herbivore, I'm guessing.. (Rabbit like creatures)
Of course, if this were changed, Avian would be even harder to find on Rori
Tortons on Rori were also mentioned in a previous post (Turtles with wooly hide). I always enjoy hunting them when there's a good wooly shift, though, so I'd be sad to see it changed honestly.
I always tell myself that there's a layer of wool underneath the large scales, just to make it somewhat believable.
But I can't explain avian meat on rabbits.

Keep in mind that the devs don't necessarily see these as bugs. They specifically told the docs in one of the 19 questions that latern birds were not bugged, but they just happened to end up with herb meat...

Vir Vurs on Rori drop Avian Meat - they should drop herbivore meat (imho since they look like little rabbits).

They'd better not "fix" the Voritor avian bone without also replacing the requirement on Wookiee armor or some limbs will be torn from their sockets =)

Hehe im sure they wont change a thing, just good to have a collection of info that tells people what creaturesdrop the resource types that are often unexpected or 'wierd'.

Yes, I can see how they don't concider them bugs, but its as if they drew names from a hat to pick the resources of some of these creatures. I view this as carelessness on the part of the devs. I mean some you can explain as "they are ailen creatures and have evolved differently thus giving them an unexpected type of resource" but there are too many discrepencies for that to hold water. I think all we are trying to do is say, at least make these believeable. non-insect creatures with no bones just don't make sense. creatures in the same "family" shouldn't have drasticly differen't types of bones or hides. How difficult would it be to take all the creatures in the database, organise them by planet, and assign logical resources to each one on a per creature basis?

Regarding the 'alien' nature of creatures: one of the SWG loading screens says that Rancor is a mix of crustacean and arachne. That's definitely weird. It's probably taken from SWreferencebut I have not checked myself. Shouldn't Rancor have insect meat then?No bones? Scaley hide?
