Thread: Ye Olde Trapping Droid. Tips and Info on Use.
- half the XP of tossing the trap yourself
- droid runs away when grouped (there is a workaround)
- carrying crates of traps
- carrying repair kits and batteries
Pros:
- gain XP in trapping while doing somehting else (like combat)
- droids will be callable from the toolbar in publish 10
- maxed droid modules in R3droidshould be able to reach around 40-50 traps
- traps are drag and drop takes little time to load a droid
to work around the droid fleeing while grouped make a macro that goes like this:
program droid with trap as the command to toss a trap and follow to be follow me command
macro name: ttrap
/tellpet trap;
/pause 1;
/tellpet follow;
/pause 4;
/macro ttrap;
this little macro will keep the droid tossing traps much like a COB macro and will keep him in range of the target being trapped. as you switch targets so does the droid. there must be a small pause between commands for each to register.
how i use this is to load the droid with wire mesh traps and target the first beastie and hit my attack routine then hit the trapping command. 9 times out of 10 the critter will come for me instead of the droid. once the animal is dead i retarget on a new one and rinse/repeat. i harvest in between fights. this lets me easily gain 4 types of experience off of one target. weapon, combat, trapping, scouting.

Nice post, and thanks for the macro!! this will come in handy when trying to fill those FS points starting wednesday :-)
Your welcome
when i tried this out last week i was a little under 390k weapons xp and around 0 trapping and maybe 10k scouting. i maxed scouting and had to toss 10 more traps by hand to max trapping. starting with 0 weapons XP you should easily max out on both scouting and trapping before you hit the 900k weapon cap. if you harvest bones and hides about equally and have access to a factory your traps are free of charge.
i plan on running off 50 crates at a time and since the traps charge off of the amount of charges a trap has ie 5 for a wire mesh thats how many charges the droid gets when You drop a trap in it. so a crate of 25 wire mesh has 125 charges for the droid. the droids can be charged while it is tossing traps while your in combat. just cant pull any traps out of a crate while in combat.
so if you go 4 combat lines and two scout/trap xp lines both will be finished about the same time if you have free unlocks. since i should have 3 unlocks i plan on opening two scout/trap xp lines and one combat XP line leaving only 6weeks i have to be gated by time on.
