Howdy there.

I'm hoping I can find definitive answers on the combat effects with regards to creatures.

For example, I know throwing a wire mesh at a creature will drop its melee combat effectiveness. What how does that translate to me punching it? Do I hit harder? More often?

I guess if I put out a list of all the effects, perhaps someone can fill in the blanks and it might be usefull for new people (and old) to figure out what traps they should be using.

Melee Defense / Ranged Defence (Wire Mesh / Glow Juice / Glow Mesh)

Dizzy (Lecepanine / Sonic Pulse(A))

Blind (Sharp Bone Spur /Flash Bomb(A))

Stun (Noise Maker / Sonic Pulse(A))

Easier State Effects (Stink Bomb)

Snare (Phenecnacine)

Root / Stuck (Adhesive Mesh)

So there it is. The effect, and the traps that cause them. Traps marked with (A) are the Ranger area effect traps.

Melee /Ranged Defense - Makes the target easier to hit.

Dizzy - On humanoids, this causes a chance to fall over when changing posture. On creatures (which are the only things traps affect), it does nothing.

Blind - Decreases the chance to hit you.

Stun - Reduces the damage from the target by 20-30%, and decreases their chance to hit slightly.

Easier State Effects - Makes it easier to stick these other states on a target. I don't know how much.

Snare - Slows a target.

Root / Stuck - Stops a target.

Defenses -

Wire mesh, it stacks. Other than that, who knows?

Glow juice, see above.

Glow wire, seems to work, not real sure. Anyhow, spozed to effect both, but unless two people are there to smack a critter around, who knows? Seems to help with ranged weapons, so I use them.

Dizzy - doesn't work.

Blind -

bone spurs used to be kick butt, but got nerfed.

FlashBombs, scare noobs. May work on more than one creature if you are really really lucky. Decreases the chances of the creature to hit you, or so rumor says.

Stun - doesn't work. Or at least a stunned creature is no less likey to make you a lunchable.

Sink bombs - anyone still use these?

Snare - PDARTS ARE THE BOMB. Toss one and kite and shoot. Shooting does not effect the duration. Come in stacks of 5. They work, they work well, they are your friend. Use them, and use them often.

Adhesive mesh - works, sorta kinda, but not well. Stacks of two - suck, as number 2 fails 80% with no message. Shooting at the creature shortens duration. sometimes to nanoseconds if you have a group (personally think time of effect it is linked to damage taken). Stuff to make them - poly, is somewhat hard for some people to come by. Me, I got tons, and never use them.

What do I use, Pdarts and Glow wire. And to scare noobs, flash bombs, and then ask if someone's weapon blew up. Good for giggles.

who maxed traps first, in Scout and Ranger, and who doesn't leave the house without 15 Pdarts and 5 glows ready to rock

Melee Defense / Ranged Defence (Wire Mesh / Glow Juice / Glow Mesh) Lowers their melee defences thus raising your chances of hitting them, effecting accuracy. So this is only truely effective and useful at lower levels. Don't know a lot of higher level Melee fighters that miss much. The glow juice also effects accuracy for ranged weapons, making it so you miss less often, but same result in the higher end players.

Dizzy (Lecepanine / Sonic Pulse(A)) We have been told, only about 2 months ago, that Dizzy does not effect creatures. The little dizzy icon shows up, but they are not actually dizzy.

Blind (Sharp Bone Spur /Flash Bomb(A)) Blind has the effect of lowering the accuracy of your target, so they hit you less.

Stun (Noise Maker / Sonic Pulse(A)) Stun has the effect of making them pause and miss 1-2 attacks, and slows down their attack speed for the duration

Easier State Effects (Stink Bomb) Honestly forget what this does

Snare (Phenecnacine) Slows down the movement, but only on land creatures, doesnt work on flying ones.

Root / Stuck (Adhesive Mesh) Holds them totally still in one place, but this is very short term, under 10 seconds.

So there it is. The effect, and the traps that cause them. Traps marked with (A) are the Ranger area effect traps.

adhesive mesh can be a pain, but i occassionaly use it. sometimes i will use it on a fast creature that likes to run away when he gets low health. sometimes i use it as a crowd control measure. say i've got two high level creatures right next to each other. i hit one with the mesh, dispense of the other one, then take out the one i trapped. hope that helps.
