And the hunt goes on…

My eyes flare up as the brisk wind rouses from the vale.

Spying a faint print, following a brown leafy trail.

Heart a-soaring, exhilaration with every silent stride,

Finding the mark, my hunters heart swells with pride.

And the hunt goes on…

Beyond to murky depths of the forests thorny brush,

Through the air so sweet, spying the wispy trails,

Out of the corner of the eye, the illusive white tail,

The sounds of misty breath, a preys panicked flush.

And the hunt goes on…

Weapon in hand, slowly rising to a formidable grasp,

Crosshair a-readied, surveying the most favorable path,

Advancing slowly, onwards towards the final clasp.

The air crackles with light, the mark feels my wrath.

And the hunt goes on…

Though it was magnificent, the largest of its herd,

Its life was meant for a greater purpose, which is now served.

As noble in death as it was in delicate, fragile life,

Its existenceobliterated in a world of continuous strife.

And the hunt goes on…

Thus marks theconclusion of a journey, for both hunter and prey.

Thus marks the beginning of new adventure, a new day.

Although the creature died, rest assured, it shall be avenged,

For as all hunters know, we will meet the same valiant end.
