well cant say for ranger (yet), but this is how i did it for scout tier4box
pull with glow-wire trap (lower defense)
shoot/hack twice (i found thats how long itll take for you to throw a trap again)
throw stink bomb (make it vulnerable to states)
shoot/hack twice
throw noise maker (dizzy, now arent you glad you threw that stink bomb)
shoot/hack twice
throw phecnacine dart (make it slow down)
shoot/hack till dead

go to your skills sheet-- CTRL+S
look at your trapping modifier.
Your trapping modifier determies your success at hitting creatures. So, aim at creatures around your trapping level. Use Dweezle to pump up your trapping ratinng about 30, which allows you to get a lot of Trapping XP off of creatures higher than your trapping level.

Get some dweezel (will prolly need to do a vendor search or make a special order). This food increases your TL (Trapping Level) by up to 20 points and can help when you can't find stuff in the right 'range'.
Get a CL30s player to pull a mission for you, don't group with them, head out to the mission and spam traps at one, just one, critter. Don't kill the beast, just run out of range and it'll lose inteest in you, then go back in and spam more traps on it. Time consuming, but gets the job done.
If you are high enough CL yourself, head out to some of the intermediate planets, find something that has no ranged attack that you can trap and spam it with traps. Novice medic bactashot and some good regen food helps a lot, tho CL30 critters won't do too much damage ona CL80 player
Oh, just remembered (after shooting them half the night) that kashyyk bantha and velociraptor are in the sort of range you're looking o trap.

Like I said, use dweezle to trap higher level creatures if you need to. Lower level creatures can usually be found on starter planets fairly easily, or you can use mission terms to get those missions (group with droid if you need to). You get trap XP when you hit creatures, so go ahead and throw the traps and run out of aggro range...then run back in. No killing needed.
