Well, i've decided to go master ranger, but trapping exp is proving a problem. Currently i'm only at scout tier 3 trapping, which I grinded out on cl15s from missions. Can I have any Mrangers advice on what to grind on for scout tier 4, and ranger tiers from 1 through 4?

well cant say for ranger (yet), but this is how i did it for scout tier4box

pull with glow-wire trap (lower defense)

shoot/hack twice (i found thats how long itll take for you to throw a trap again)

throw stink bomb (make it vulnerable to states)

shoot/hack twice

throw noise maker (dizzy, now arent you glad you threw that stink bomb)

shoot/hack twice

throw phecnacine dart (make it slow down)

shoot/hack till dead

Use this with every creature you kill and watch the trapping xp roll in!

go to your skills sheet-- CTRL+S

look at your trapping modifier.

Your trapping modifier determies your success at hitting creatures. So, aim at creatures around your trapping level. Use Dweezle to pump up your trapping ratinng about 30, which allows you to get a lot of Trapping XP off of creatures higher than your trapping level.

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.

So each +1 point in trapping skill equates to a cl in trapping? I.e if I have 50 points in trapping I can trap cl50's?

all the trapping boxes give a certain amount to trapping, as do the novice and master boxes in scout and Ranger. it has NOTHING to do with CL. Your trapping mod is basically like an accuracy mod-- the higher your mod, the more accurate you are with traps. The more accurate you are, the higher the CL of the creature you can hit with any amount of certainty.

Glad I saw this post as I have the exact same issue. Level III, grinding for Level IV, and it's going terribly slow.

I do wonder how I could possible find level 30 creatures though...

And it needs to be done with someone else doing the damage/tanking...

Personally I went to Naboo......Made a ton of traps, put them on my F key bar....took a mission, found the highest level thing around the mission, and just threw a trap at it, (Phecanine dart) ran away, waited til a second after it wore off, threw another and just did this until I ran out of traps, then I killed it. and restocked my traps and repeated! It only took about 2 hours for the entire tier 4 box grind....*grumbles two hours for one box* *Happy again* Well couldve been worse!

Get some dweezel (will prolly need to do a vendor search or make a special order). This food increases your TL (Trapping Level) by up to 20 points and can help when you can't find stuff in the right 'range'.

Get a CL30s player to pull a mission for you, don't group with them, head out to the mission and spam traps at one, just one, critter. Don't kill the beast, just run out of range and it'll lose inteest in you, then go back in and spam more traps on it. Time consuming, but gets the job done.

If you are high enough CL yourself, head out to some of the intermediate planets, find something that has no ranged attack that you can trap and spam it with traps. Novice medic bactashot and some good regen food helps a lot, tho CL30 critters won't do too much damage ona CL80 player

Oh, just remembered (after shooting them half the night) that kashyyk bantha and velociraptor are in the sort of range you're looking o trap.

Like I said, use dweezle to trap higher level creatures if you need to. Lower level creatures can usually be found on starter planets fairly easily, or you can use mission terms to get those missions (group with droid if you need to). You get trap XP when you hit creatures, so go ahead and throw the traps and run out of aggro range...then run back in. No killing needed.

roam around dant, and you will easily find lvl 25 to 35 huurtons. I had one other person with me, a high lvl for the defense bonus, and i always start with the p-dart, gives you more time to slap more traps on before the creature gets to you. Also, if you have rifles, snare after the p-dart almost makes them stand still!
