Correction: 9 months. We have not had any significant change in 9 months. /conceal and /areatrack were added in August, last year. Any other change for us was really due to revamp of another prof., and the effect was indirect, i.e., nothing in your skills have changed. You could make an argument for a fix to the requirements for the Camo Kits, but that was to enable Lok Camo. Hardly a significant patch.

We have had nerfs, hard as it is to believethey would do that.

Sorry if that makes you all even more depressed...

Ranger is not a profession. It's a lifestyle.

We're not alone. Unless you're a Jedi, you're pretty much gonna be ignored till the combat revamp and JTL or after.

Personally, I feel bad for the poor smugglers. They were actually promised a revamp soon. It's now been delayed a couple of times, possibly into 2005 at this point. They are not a happy bunch right now, theircoresponent is sounding as though he's gonna leave the game.

Makes me almost glad nothing was promised for us, so at least we aren't let down when things don't happen.

Well, its all economics really--as it has been pointed out elsewhere...

SOE and Lucasart are commercial enterprises. They are supposed to maximize return on investment. They'll priortize Whatever can produce most bang per dev resource devoted to it.

JTL, of course, is an obvious priority. It adds a totally different game experience (flight sim instead of rpg, real-time instead of hybrid, etc) and has enough cachet to bring in new customers.

Other choices seem more haphazard: wookie armor because of the noise they made (I may be wrong here) or ID because it is supposed to appeal to that elusive demographic, females?

In this light, when will Rangers get dev resources? When we all pretend to be pre-operationals with an attitude, I will hazard a guess.

Seriously though, I think all players (not just rangers) should be asking for more SWG dev resources to be budgeted by SOE. unfortunately, the only two ways this will be allowed by beancounters is a) if enough players leave the game to hurt them or, b) if they see a significant revenue opportunity.

Ok, on my count, everybody drops their account for a month to send a message...one, two, ...

If they don't fix things up soon everyone will be moving over to WoW. That will make my hunts very lonely.

My patience is wearing thin with the Devs. Why is it that Image Designers get 2 patches devoted to them and professions such as the Ranger has not seen anything significant in at least 3 months. There are items that have been requested that would take no time to add or fix. Tell me why I can trap a Krayt Dragon or Kimogilla but I cannot trap a single npc. Do you see any discrepancy in that picture? It probably wouldn't hurt to allow us to trap in -PvP- either. As a Ranger, I am usually the last to be asked to join a hunt because I am the least valuable. Why? Because I use skill points for an elite profession that provides little to no support for a group. A Master Scout is more valuable to a group because they can provide the basics that a Ranger can but also have the ability to master a combat profession and a healing profession and then some.

Chefs get their fix and all of a sudden, the food I forage is worthless. More time is spent on Image Designer (a pet project) than a profession that was supposed to be an integral part of the game. The Image Design profession could be done at a computer terminal in a tent but, understandably, SWG is to be a social game as well as an adventuring one so the Image Designer profession is created to serve a small niche. However, the Devs spend the better part of their patch time concocting abilities and specialties for this profession. With all the other little issues out there (the force field around the base camps) that should have or could be fixed, the pet project is given full attention.

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the amount of pressure that the Devs are under but it might be more efficient to take care of little issues, fixes,or additionswith all the professions than focusing on one and letting everyone else get the shaft. I am not expecting an entire patch devoted to the Ranger profession but I would like to see the following fixed or introduced within the next 3 months:

1) Fix the force field issue around base camps

2) Allow the base camps to have a life of 45 minutes regardless if the Ranger engages in combat or leaves. They are bases.

3) Allow traps to work on NPCs. It does not have to work on players but at least NPCs.

4) Allow the Ranger to be able to throw a trap from 64 meters away just like the Combat Medic can throw poisons from that distance.

5) Allow the Ranger to create a poison trap. Most of the hunters I know of are able to make a mild poison out of the elements found in nature. Heck, the native indian tribes in Brazil can make a poison out of plants that is lethal to humans and works in a matter of minutes.

I don't think these are unreasonable request and would require little in the way of programming issues as many of these are already done by other professions or would require the elimination of criteria lines. All I am really asking for is a little recognition from the Devs that the Ranger is a part of this game and deserves equal attention as all the other professions. Devs, Thunderheart, anyone who can get some recognition thrown the Rangers way, please respond in someway. Show us we mean something and not give us lip service.

Ranger for life,
