Thread: Requesting information on tracking

I've been considering taking the tracking line in Ranger with my alt in order to become a 'trophy hunter' and have the ability to track Krayts, other named mobs, etc. How useful is the tracking line toward this? I've read a bit and understand there would be a range of 500m? if one only had the tracking line. Also, of course you can't track something that hasn't been spawned. In your opinion, is it feasible to get the tracking line and have better success in tracking down the hard to find mobs? (Example would be Krayt)

Eh, its a toss up. Tracking around a hilly area is buggy and also with creatures/npcs sometimes doing the disappearing act it can be a pain.
I usually wait 10secs in one spot before I track so things around me spawn and stick. It needs to be worked on really.

The odds of a spawn happening dont increase when you track.
I have spent hours looking for the gorax, and other elusive beasties.... the spawn rate and tracking are unfortunately not interconnected.

Since the AV-21 came out, its easier searching for the big mobs like Krayts and Kimogilasin the speeder. Tracking is at its greatest use when searching for specific local spawing creatures. For example, you are hunting mynocks for the herb meat, tracking will tell direction and distance to the mynocks. Tracking is also very useful to Bounty Hunters in locating their NPC targets. Big game hunting is usually a hit and miss with the skill.

Thank you all for your input. I'm going to go ahead and give it a try. A few people I've talked with that used to have Ranger said they really liked this ability. I'll go ahead and try it and see how it goes. Thanks!
