I haven't ever hunted any rancors, so I don't know what level they are, but I've hunted a good number of voritor hunter lizards on Dantooine, which (if I'm remembering correctly) are level 45 creatures and their lairs are level 99 missions. As a Master Ranger, most of my traps hit on them, but many still miss. This is one of the major issues with the Ranger profession right now. I don't think that I'd have much better success with trapping rancors and my guess is that it would actually be worse since I believe they are higher level than voritor hunters. The unfortunate fact is that even at Master Ranger, some creatures just are not affected by traps at all.

Tossing traps at rancors nets me about 1500 xp per trap. I levelled up two levels of Trapping on Wdnesday. I do miss a bit, but if you craft alot of traps, then that doesn't matter. Also, you can sometimes throw multiple traps of the same type, and they will work. Just make a bunch of traps and throw 'em all.

With regards to trapping...

On the higher level critters I have yet to find success hitting them with traps AFTER they've been brought down in their HAM bars.

Dunno if that's really what it is, but I've seen more success trapping something when it's almost dead...

Alright, i have a question regaurding trapping. What does your trapping mod need to be, to be able to trap rancors, bull rancors, and enraged rancors? I was wondering cuase i have trapping 2 in the ranger tree but still never land a trap on these on things, any help is greatly appreciated.

At advanced trapping III I can pretty consistenly trap enraged bull rancors (I have 30 traps queued as I type this) with full buffs and composite I just sit there and let it beat on me.

1857 trapping xp per wire mesh trap. Good way to get that last box of ranger xp.

now if only I could get survival xp at this speed...
