whoops pressed enter acidently....

Shouldn't we be able to make our own clothes out of animal hides? or our own necklases out of rancor teeth. I would like to be able to walk around with a big greater desert womp rat hide on my back. What about you?

Yeah, we're supposed to be self-sufficient, but as a Master Ranger alone, I can't even protect myself from a durni, let alone provide for myself out in the wild.

But to answer your question, yes, I too believe we should be able to harvest unique items and craft them into unique pieces of clothing and jewelry, but I really doubt that will happen any time soon.

You can't expand the idea of self-sufficient to the point where it intrudes upon other professions.

we forage food... should we be able to make a pair of sandals out of some wheat or something. making clothing out of natural resources doesn't really seem like a tailor thing to me.

Well, the idea of making clothes would be directly stealing something from the tailor profession. It's the same thing as that Jedi plea for harvesting a month or so back. We were in an uproar because it was giving the core of our profession to another one.

Besides the obvious....

with some great clothes being made by tailors, why would we want to look like disheveled hermits

I just realized...
Trandoshans really get the shaft when they go into vendors with the "No Shirt, NO SHOES, No Service"

Pithren and Calc said it and said it well...
Unless its a unique form of decoration (trophies) the wearables should really be left to the tailors

Yeah, I wanna look like Fred freaking Flintstone -- no tie tho --- I hate ties.

I agree with trophies, but making clothes - well, without scouts and rangers, the tailors can't craft. And before you say metal, realize I get tons and tons and have no artisan. For that matter, I can drop medic, grab some artisan, make some clothes (crappy but they cover my unders) and go get medic back. Golly, I am self sufficient, except for weapons.

Who's to say that a rifleman shouldn't be able to harvest a creature (without Scout, that is)? He can kill it, why shouldn't he be able to get some meat from it? I know most of use don't like having our skills removed from us, and we try to practice a policy of not asking to take other's skills from them. Most likely the devs will see this as intruding on Tailors.

Having a decent animal companion means I am self sufficient. I have hunted solo on Dath over several days and am now finding out what an enjoyable and rewarding planet Endor is.
