ok, so I got my DE to make me a droid to test it out. The droids have a harvesting skill which is equal to a players harvesting skill. If the droid has 100 harvest it will harvest the same as a master ranger. You cannot both harvest yourself and get the droid to harvest. My friend said he'd easily make 100 harvest droids, probably even higher with good resources.
So this means, that any schmuk with novice scout can now harvest as much as a master ranger, possibly more!! you can also get the droid to harvest while you battle so no more lost corpses, and it negates the speed problem.
I would just like to give the Devs abig thumbs up for destroying rangers even more

I hear ya but have you considered using one yourself? I read a thread in the DE forum that with a 120 rating droid you can get a 20% bonus over your top harvesting rate. Plus the speed to move on to the next lair/kill speeds Rangers up too.
I wont say I condone them creating away for others to harvest better than us but still I plan on getting one and using it when necessary.

Isn't the droid basing its harvest quantity on the player that's using it? So a droid with 100 harvest would grab the same amount as the player using it, be he a Master Ranger or just a Novice Scout? And a droid with 100+ (I've heard as high as 120) can get a bit extra, but it's still based on the character's own harvest skill?

The skill mod is based on the owner's stat. WhatI mean be that is, a novice Scout with a droid that has a harvest mod of 100 will only harvest as much as that novice Scout will. They will not harvestas much asa Master Ranger with a +100 harvesting mod.

hmm, I've made a fool of myself.. damn grouping with droid causing less harvest.. well.. guess it might be useful afterall
EDIT:
hmm, wasn't that either.. getting some really strange figures out of this.. I'm testing with a ranger with track 2 and a novice scout.. have one skill 13 and one skill 77 droid..
the 77 droid harvests just a tad more than each of the characters does.

I did some tests.
I have one droid with a harvesting bonus of 14 and another with 91.
The one with 14 harvested less of course, but the one with 91 consistantly harvested more than me at Master Ranger.
I killed some maverick gualarmas for the tests. I harvested 33 units. The one with 14 harvested 20. The one with 91 harvested 35. This remained constant.
I will continue testing this though.

I found that grouping with my droid only gives no reduction to harvests, but when I got another player in group they dropped.

There is a 60% reduction in harvests when grouped. But, any player in the group can harvest. Before this publish they used to apply that penality to any group you were in, so if you were grouped with a pet or droid you would get the 60% reduction. But, they changed it shortly after publish 8 hit TC so that the penality only applied if you were grouped with one or more PC.
So grouping with pets or droids alone won't give you a 60% reduction. But, once a PC joins your group you suffer from the 60% reduction. But, anyone in your group can harvest.
