I ran alittle test on Dath with a harvesting droid that is at 96 on harvesting ability. (Requires HIGH conductivity to make the modules that get you up over a hundred)

I was hunting Gaping Spiders. On a Gaping Spider Queen, I harvest 176 units of meat. The driod harvest 185 units of meat. I also tried it on average gaping spiders. I harvest 50 units of meat from the average gaping spider. The droid harvested between 60 and 65. On gaping spider broodlings it was running me=between 5 and 7 units and the droid pulling an average 11 units.

All of these test where conducted 4 times each while not grouped with droid. The best thing about the droid was being able to send it into a group of aggro to harvest without drawing it down on myself. During these test, the droid was not attacked by area aggro. (Wether this was pure luck today, or is variable will need to be tested) But to give you an example. I killed a Gaping Spider Queen that had moved away from me straight into 2 batches of surrounding aggro spawn. 1 batch was enraged rancors, the other was reptilian fliers. The droid went in and did not pull any aggro from either spawn. The most that happened was the spawn aggro showed curiosity about the droid's presense.

I found that while being attacked by 3 gaping spiders at once, I was able to kill 1 and click my droid macro for harvest meat before the spider had even dropped to the ground. As soon as the droid moved (and it's pretty quick when going out to harvest) I was able to spin onto the next target and start it's punishment. The result was that by the time the third died, I had already harvested the other corpses and was ready to take the lair without having to run around and pickup harvest before proceeding. For those that are looking to power harvest a particular resource, the droid should come in very handy. With good combat time management and proper timing, you can just about clear a lair and harvest in tandem.

I agree, that I am disappointed that we now require a droid to harvest at levels we should have been harvesting at with our own innate ability, but I for one and willing to use the droid if it means giving me the patience to hold on to my Master Ranger title alittle longer. Once the novelity has worn off, then i will take a hard look at where the profession is and decide from there.

Is it the destroyer of our Profession? No (You would have to be blindly in love with the idea of Ranger to think that the profession wasn't already in a world of hurt)

Will the droids make that much of a difference? If speed is what you want in your harvest time equation, then yes it can provide you speed that is rather nice.

Must you go out and get one to compete? No, not really. If you think of the price involved with droid upkeep, you will still probably work out ok even with standard harvest.

Some of the money you get from the extra harvest is going to go right back into the droid for any repairs and power supplies.

Is it a nice little bit O' fluff to keep us off their backs? If your close to Master Ranger and have been reading the Ranger forum for the last 6 months, you can answer that

question yourself.

As for the Trap Droid, it will only be usefull to someone grinding the trapping tree. Since most Rangers atleast at mid-level no longer use traps, the choice of wether to

own or not is a simple one. What I would find useful, is a droid that sat back at camp and baked me a damn cake while I was off bringing home the bacon. The Marth Stewart Model 3000 could be very useful in making your camp into a home away from home.

On a side note, if your looking for a good droid that can add something useful to your day, look into getting an R3 unit with 6 of the level 6 storage modules. This will give you an extra 60 slots of storage space on your person. I have comfirmed with the same DE that created my harvesting droid that the modules DO stack. 60 slots may not seem like alot, but if your tired of having to drop all your bundles of resources in your house to make room in your backback, this is a nice way to get some space.

Yes, it gives the same scouting exp as if you did it yourself

So I suppose either you harvest or the droid harvests... Logic I suppose, can both harvest if grouped perhaps...

If im reading correctly,

the corpse can only be harvested once

either the droid, or you...

I imagine the trapping droid will (might?) be more useful if SOE enhanced the usefulness of traps. They'll probably get around todoing just that.

It definately would be more useful that way. I'm tempted even now to pick one up for when pulling goes wrong. Just have the droid with a huge stack of adhesive meshes. At the very least it would be fun to watch. And my current hope is that traps and such are looked at during the Combat Balance. They are a part of combat. And the Devs have indicated that the Combat Balance includes:

They could easily cover most Ranger fixes and enhancements by that description (especially the profession roles and balances). We just need to make sure they don't forget.

Each corpse can only be harvest by either you or the droid, not both.

Well that is great news sounds like it gives a bonus to your harvest, as it should. As long as a lower level, like novice scout or any scout, can harvest what I can as master ranger with no droid.

That sounds like a decent bonus, and like you are master ranger.

How many harvest mods were in your droid?

Hey Rand and gang, now that these are out, here is an idea for ranger, to be different then scout

One or both of these additions. A ranger can harvest as well as the droid at novice ranger.

A ranger can harvest as well as the droid, but they can harvest different resources. Maybe partway up tracking or at master.

In response to squid, the droid has 6 of the harvesting mods. That is the max with the r3 droid. As a side note, the r3 and r4 droids are the ones that can hold the most of the advanced modules. So if your looking for a droid, make sure it is one of those 2 models.
