A Master Ranger -

Knows his home planet like the back of his hand. Knows which creature drops what, in approximate amounts, and what creatures DB and which don't - without consulting any external guides.

Has more than a passing knowledge of the other planets. May even be very experienced in one or two others.

Knows what creatures can be solo'd, using what tactics, and which creatures are best left to a group.

Knows where to find some rare creatures. If they are spawning, the Master is in the right place to find them.

Knows basic tactics, such as the one creature pull, and the creature pull into a crowd of unfriendlies.

Knows the limitations of his abilities, and works through them to make them work.

Knows which of his abilities are best left unused.

Knows that while Rangers are not totally self sufficient, they can come awfully close.

Knows that Rangers are not an uberclass, and understand the limitations of the class, butmore importantly, know how to combine other classes with Ranger to make being a Ranger fun.

If the above don't apply, they you have missed something, or more than likely, macroed your way to Master. I have said many times, it's the journey, not the destination.

JB, Nice post, kind of a Mission statement / Buisness plan to being a Ranger. Definitly good thoughts to keep in mind when you out in the wild and wonder why your there.

I started on Tempest back in September and I worked immediately towards getting Ranger. Took me until December. Believe me, the journey there was what made it fun. Had I grinded to get there, I would have dropped it long ago. I earned it. I appreciate it. I will always be a Ranger.

Your friendly neighborhood Ranger,

This is so true!

And embarrasing to myself

I'm wearing the title and still do not know my home planet that good. There's a long way ahead (I'm actually happy about that)

- Zing! You've got milk!
- You start generating a lair. There's a Ranger 1000 m SE. You cannot place a lair that close to Ranger.

OK, so how do we know what our "home" planet is supposed to be. Were they (devs) ever gonna let us fill out the rest of the info for our character?

But great post JB.

I love this post, JB. Do you mind if I add it to a collection of things that were written a long time ago?

I am in a pretty disgusted mood after what myself and Reyune witnessed today.

But I feel a bit better now. Thanks JB.
