Well i was going for master carbineer/ to go with Master Ranger but keeping stuff at bay is a pain in the well you know what. Not to say that i have ever attempted rifles at all. But if you can learn to keep stuff at a distance go for rifle. I decided on Master Swords for that very reason and there is nothing that can stop me and a power hammer nothing except some of the more rare and dangerous nasties. GDK for one. But Like someone said it doesnt matter really nothing is uber. And it depends on what you like to do. I prefer swords myself. Only because carbineer p@%# me off. And if there are any Master Carbineers out there I salute them because That is one proffession that takes patience. (and you thought grinding Frontier was bad).

Never having been a swordsman ... is your damage mainly kinetic?

If it is, you are hosed on some of the biggest prey, as they are very very very resistant to kinetic.

Just wondering...

Peko Peko Albatross - 100% kinetic resistantance - TK can hit all day and do nothing

JB at novice swordsman you get access to the powerhammer which is AP2 and blast damage. The rest of the weapons are kinectic

I was origanally carbineer/ranger then went swords. Stay with swords!!! you kill faster and it compliments ranger very nicely. Good choice!

this is what im doing too, i toss some state effect traps on it first to get it to come over to me, then hack it up to bits and pieces!

and if it has high kinetic, i just smash it over the head with the power hammer.

OK, thx.

I didn't know when power hammers came into play.

They do a damn-damn (what you say when you view the results...damn.... damn...) on stuff.

Guildie is going swords, I am sticking with pistols. Seems I lure em in and bleed 'em, he bashes them about the head and shoulders. Sounds like fun.

This isn't true.

Give a master swordsman a good Scythe (AP2 Kinetic damage) and the galaxy is your oyster. A Master Swordsman that knows what he's doing can kill virtually ANYTHING in the game. Especially when mixed with good medic abilities.

My roommate is a Master Swordsman Master Doctor, and he just laughs at Giant Dune Kimos, Super Battledroids, Acklay, and almost anything else this game has thrown at him.

I'm a speed capped MSwordsman /Mbrawler with 0040 Ranger and force-sensitive skills. I'll tell you, Swordsman is beautiful once you start pushing +90 speed. Using a 171-596, 5.4hammer (which is about the best you can get for non-acklay'd), I'm able to tear through an Enraged Rancor lair in about 5 minutes or less, while harvesting in the meantime. I easily harvested 15k of meat in about forty minutes (I time progress through Vasarian brandy uses hehe).

Last night I realized how nice it is to be a Ranger/Swordsman! I was helping a new guild mate get some xp, and was killing things in one hit that takes a newer character like hundreds! And I still consider myself a noob too!

And being a ranger was very usefull finding critters that would give him decent scout xp. I think he has been convinced to take novice ranger at a minimum.

Any advice on where I should take this young scout out to?

Been a Master Ranger / Master Swordsman for a long time, and yea you can handle just about anything with uber buffs and armor. The two professions together really make the ultimate PvE template.

My only advice to you is to really get to knowSwordsman, fight unbuffed for a while. Try dealing witha crowd of mobswithout uber armor and spamming area attack 3.Try some PvP with a smart Ranged fighterand learn how to deal with kiting.

Swordsman is a really great profession but so often people play buffed all the time and never really get to know whatits like without buffs. Trust me, its a whole different ball game.

There are 10 types of people in this world... those who know binary and those who don't.

Siarra Oman - Noob scout on Wanderhome, home of the great ranger meet up.

great advice.

TKM is very similar in that aspect.

with TKM, it's real easy to just do the UnarmedKnockdown2 then spam the hell out of UnarmedHit3 or UnarmedHeadhit1. Any monkey can do that while fully buffed with Brandy and Canape in the belly. But try to do that same thing unbuffed on an empty stomach. You'll kill yourself in under 10 seconds.

The nice thing is that if you follow his advice, and really learn to understand the profession, and develop good strategies, you'll be all set for the upcoming Combat Rebalance when everything gets nerfed.
