I usually hit the trade forums and see what people need. Scribble a fewnotes down and away I go. I have a RL friend who is a Master Doctor so during my downtime I'll hunt her resources for cheap (cheap as in free). POI's are also a lot of fun as well as mentioned above, as are themeparks.

I agree with everyone above... What I'll do sometimes is check out swgcraft.com and find the good resource before a lot of people know about it, gather as much as I can and then sell it or give it to the guild. Or... show the noobs you're wilderness hotels and take them hunting the big leezards. I usually get a kick out of the noobs responses to seeing big stuff...usually OMFG!!!! or WOW!!!! Sweet Camp!!! lol.

It really depends what you want to get out of your hunting. If you want a resource you can sell, then its time to head to your trade forums (or coronet) and see what people are buying, then go and hunt that. If you just want the experiance (and or XP), then pick somewhere you havent been before. I recently started hunting on yavin, someone in the guild needs the bristley hide, but also I havent been there alot before, and I really need the rifleman XP.

Of course you could always go to a planet, and visit a few POIs, look around and generally explore.

After hunting an in-demand spawn for a length of time, I like to take some time off and visit some POIs, pick up another badge, or find another Jedi shrine.

Also, once a month I'll do "Reybekk's March to the Sea". I pick a planet, start on one side of the map and move in a straight line to the other side (on foot - natch!) zapping anything in my path. It helps keep my skills sharp - especially if I just spent two weeks hunting the same thing over and over for a popular spawn (Bantha's I'm looking at YOU). You can also find interesting things along the way.

Thanks for all the responses. I did go to dantooine to hunt for animal bone for a contract.. it was fun, I may go to danth and look around some maybe do the poi route. i havent really explored it yet so maybe that is what i shoud do.. of course after i drop off my last contract... also I had some dark jedi players given me grief the other night,, so i took the forums advice and had a mouse bot made named darkjedikillr.. so i plan to find them soon and pay back.. maybe even get my guild to pay them a visit.. maybe will just do the spatial trick.."found him, sending waypoint. lol

I do a combo of these things. I don;t normally take contracts per se. I hate being locked into something. But I have done enough biz with different Armorsmiths and merchants that I get sent notes from them when they are looking for something and what they will pay. No promises from me . This lets me go hunt what I want and still make a good living.

As an example right now on Kettemoor both Insect meat and Leathery Hide on Yavion are good. SO I get a set of buffs(yeah I know). But I can hunt more in a shorter time. I then grab 2 missions in the same direction and get Harv out(my droid). Then I just start walking. I hunt until my doc Buffs drop. Then make camp and take a break. Let all the food buufs wear off and restart a short hunt without buffs. Just take every natural spawn I find that drops eaither of the things I need. Plus some crystal snakes for their hide and meat and some bione from the mamines and I have camo kit stuff to. DId this in 2 sets overthe weekend and got a toatl of 40k of Insect meat and 20k of the Hide. a nice 3.5 mil for a weekends fun. Not counting maxing out Scout and RIfle xp to cash in at teh village.
