Thread: Here to stay

I'm here to stay. I was talking with a buddy online last night discussing other MMPORG'S etc. We both felt that even though the game has areas that need improvement, its a fun game anyway. I hope we keep this forum friendly and uplifting. The rest of the forums on this site seem to be nothing but people venting their anger at the devs. Anyway, considering that only 20% of the playing population engage in these boards I think it's safe to say that since I and a friend feel positive about this game that many others do also , even if they don't post on this site.

Yup, know what you mean.

Took a wander into a few other forums recently to find out a little more about some attachments and stuff to do with another profession. Sheesh. Ask for advice in some places and you get flamed to heck and back.

Or the thread gets hijacked with 'I'd not bother, until they fix x,y,z and nerf the blah blah profession' etc.

Yeah people complain to fast nowadays. They should be glad that the game is changeable. My brother had everquest on ps2 as far as i know that game can't be updated. I think we should be happy that our game is updateable. Also the many different classes should give you quite some playing time. And if you don't grind I think you'll do quite some time before achieving master.

The naritus galaxy board is bad, I see all kinds of posts talking about people getting banned etc.

Well guys you are right and i just screwed up on posting still new but hopefully the Rangers will understand my noob to posting status. Yeah i dont know why ppl dont want to check these forums. I have noticed that the game itself provides so little in game help for helping you that another informative outlet is totally neccessary. I would have never figured out alot of things with out these forums and now i just have to figure out how to make post to them and rate these excellent comment... OOh wee this is fun too. SWG is fun all over.

My advice: DO NOT DO THE JEDI GRIND. I got sucked into holo grinding, I left my Ranger ways, I ground 10+ professions mostly AFK, got bored of the game, decided to go back to Ranger. Now, Im a 4440 Ranger (AFK macroed most of Front line), dont have the time to master, all I have time to do is grind for FS. Granted, Im 22/24 boxes done, I still miss Talus and its forests. My alt will be a Ranger, but the grind kills you. Literally, and in game too. I die every night at the *** caves, and I have absolutely no social life since i started grinding. I think of time now in 2 hour increments (the time my mind buff lasts), and I can't stop. Well, once i unlock, its another grind...both Jedi, and Ranger.

i have to say that as a noob to the forums, it's a little daunting to check out our main server forums and see nearly every post complaining about some aspect of the game or littered with flaming. it's great to come to these forums and be able to talk civilly while getting advise about rangering.

up until a few days back, i hadn't talked to any other rangers on my server (save one in my guild who recently dropped it). so when mantamoncal mentioned that he started a rin chat on our server, i joined it and got a chance to talk to both him and temujin23 and it was really, really nice to sit and chat with other rangers while hunting bantha. perhaps i'm thinking too much into this, but it seems like people who grinded through ranger and actually keep it (and are proud of the fact that they're rangers) are a diferent sort of folk.

makes me very glad i chose this profession.

Rangers seems to share a commonality not found in many professions, those who stay are usually happy with the game, I know I am.

The forums for my other proffession are chaotic and pure havoc 90% of the time, lol. If someone asks for help, they get flamed for not reading the FAQ or some other little thing. The Ranger forums have a great sense of community and fun to them. Besides the rampant hatred of winged hawtpants, there is no animosity to deal with.

There are definitely things I'd like to see made better (that goes for all of us, I think), but yeah, it seems like we are generally happy with this game. Oh, and I'm glad you decided to stay-- you're one of the elder statesmen of the profession on Naritus.

I think one of the things that separates rangers from the rest is that, depsite any problems or neglect that we face, we can take what we have and make it fun. Just this evening, while waiting for woolamanders to spawn, Lira and I engaged in an impromptu foraging contest (in which I was the clear victor ). I was laughing my ass off the entire time, bothat the boasting and the sheer silliness of it all. I completely forgot about the woolamanders, and when I bothered to remember, I couldn't have cared less. Afterwards we hung out in a camp and shot the breeze for a while. After spending a few days hunting mamiens, tonight's random wackiness was a blast.

I ain't the first to say it, and I won't be the last: Rangers rule.

Hear, hear!

Very nice to read a positive post! Please re-post a general version of this on the general discussion or even game guides boards. Bravo!
