Well i was really bored earlier so i desided to count how many rangers were on The complete Ranger by Galaxy list.
Total = 391
Average per server = 15
Highest pop. server = Ahazi / Eclipse
Least pop. (not counting TC) = Scylla / Valcyn

Now count the jedi. I'm curious as to which is more rare.

And how many Jedi are there?
I don't think the "list" is complete. I keep seeing more "Rangers" out there. Mainly alts with the tracking line.
Complete dullards for the most part.

yeah there are more of us then you might think, just some seem to stay hiddeen more than jedi do
i know i have trained 6 master rangers on Ahazi alone, i know i see someone with a ranger tag i /greet them, usually get ignored though :smileysad
r i do the rangers for teh win! line, guess there are just some of us rangers that are more social and totally wild and crazy than others
i mean come on you can't harvest 24/7 here, whats the fun in that, atleast for me
to me, to be on a constant harvest is too much like work and this is a game for fun and if ya don't just blow all the cred ya make from high cpu harvests, then you can afford not to hunt for anything and be all worried about buying stuff, hell i hardly spend anything of what i make since i get gree stuff all the time, most i have spend was on the power plant to have my AV-21 made
but will probably be spending more with JTL comes out

I'll go days without seeing other Rangers before finally running into one. Fitting in my opinion.

There is a huge number of 0040 rangers. It offers an interesting source of income and gives a valued place in guilds.

yeah like someone had said before, those are rangers, then there are Master Rangers and the Rangers going for master
the rangers are in it just for the tracking and take advantage of the better harvest from critters, most these rangers i run into ignore me all together when i try to /greet them and think i'm just plain crazy by doing the Rangers for teh win! line, guess its just a job to them, not a lifestyle

I've been a master ranger. when the skill points ran out, I decided to pick up skills that made me more viable (like novice medic, among others).
if ranger gets the love and care it deserves in the future, I'd pick it back up (to master). until then, I get more out of the 'creature knowledge' skillmod than anything else (harvesting and tracking included). as such, I have rangers on several servers with various levels of the tracking line, and no more master rangers. I don't track for hire, and most of my rangers are noncombat, making harvests less than profitable. I keep my rangers around to keep sites like swgcreatures.com updated, and to keep myself advised of CH and BioE options. the last time I mastered scout, I did it without dropping a single camp, and without crafting camps or traps... I fished the whole line of survival xp.
I'm a solid ranger... but until the skill points show some reward, I'll keep ranger in my heart, and not on my toon's skillsheets.

I'm thinking of dropping master ranger and going 0400. Camo kits really serve no purpose. Camps are only useful for terraforming and the odd occasion when you need to pop a bike fast. Harvesting rocks. Traps do nothing at master combat profession level - if you can kill a rancor with a nice macro, why waste a combat turn on a trap? I must admit I like being master ranger but recently stormie scans forcing me overt and Imps camping the cantina in Anchorhead (Chimaera is 80% imp server) have made me wish I could hold my own at PvP.

I'm a 4040 ranger and I disagree with the people who say camo kits are useless. I use them all the time and love them. I'm not master but Hiker made me a few crates of Dath camo kits and they keep me safe in some very dangerous territory. If I was ever to forced to drop any of my ranger skills, I would drop the tracking line LONG before the Wayfaring line; camo is essential to my gameplay.

That doesnt suprise me at all. I keep running in to rangers on Ahazi now. If its rangers I know and give a wave to, or Rangers I dont know and give a quick "Rangers for teh win!" shout. Infact I trained a ranger just last night, he interrupted my chicken dance while I was waiting for my buff, but I was more than happy to take a rest from dancing for him.

I was beating woolamanders to death at the palace entrance the other day when a pair of players came out. They stopped short and one of them exclaimed, "OMG, it's a Master Ranger! You guys are rarer than jedi." The other one congratulated me on my mastery. I thanked them and wished them good hunting, and they went on their way.
It was an odd encounter, but it made me feel good for some reason. Plus, one of the players (who was a fellow imperial) was very courteous and helpful when I asked her some questions about armorsmithsfrom our faction.
A good experience overall.Sadly, I didn't get any bone fragments, but I was poisoned multiple times by harrowers. Lotta fun.

It would be nice to see a friday feature that gave out the current count of basic and elite profession masters broken down by server. Then do it again 6 months after the combat balance since it appears that a large part of the combat balance will be to make being a master of a profession really worth it. They did this type of feature a long time ago and it was very interesting to see the breakdown by profession.
