That's not exactly easy to do. It is quite server dependent (and dependent on what other similar spawns have occured recently and on the specific needs of those you are selling to and on the quality of what you are harvesting and on the xp gained by killing what drops what you harvest and .......). I recommend you try searching through your galaxy's trade forum to see what people are offering. As a general rule, you should be able to get at least 10 credits per unit (often a lot more) for anything with OQ greater than 500 and you can probably get 3-5 credits per unit on anything (on my galaxy, it is possible to shove a 1k stack of any hide or meat on the bazaar at 6k and it will sell quite quickly).

Wasb't there a (now outdated) pricing guide somewhere? Maybe it needs to be resurrected.

well again-- it's server and time dependant. If you're on a server where good wooly hide hasn't spawned in a while, and then a 900oq, 800sr, 400 ma wooly spawns you'll probably get offers over 200cpu. But if your server recently had a 999Oq, 999SR,500 MA shift, you'll get around 50cpu..and probably less.

Basic guide to what sells well (if it's good)

Avian meat

Herb meat

Wooly hide

leathery hid.

Any of these can sell for 50-200cpu depending on quality and availability. As someone else said you have to check your servers' trade forums. There is no single answer because no two shifts are the same, and every server has it's own market. Some servers have people buying composite for 400k per suit, I got mine on Eclipse for 180k. The price of the final goods drives the price of the resources. You'll have to do a bit of legwork, but that's part of what being a Ranger is all about, right?

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.

Volsted's Pricing Guide

He never returned after he lost all his "mission critical data." I hope he does someday.

I used Volsted's guide as astart (I'd love to see someone do an updated version of it) to get formulas for base priceson resources I tend to collect. I've modified the equasions to better fit the prices reflected on my server. I'll add in a multiplier if it happens to be the first good spawn of that particulr resource in a while (or if its a stack from a previous spawn that is superior to current spawns). And I'll add in another multiplier if I can only get the resource off of small creatures.

Even then... this only gives me a base price (the lowest I'll sell it for). If the resource is going for more, I'll hike my price up to be closer to the going rate. I don't mind undercutting the competition, but I also don't want to cheat myself out of any of my hard earned money.

You shouldn't have to decide on the price. Just pick the highest cpu among the surplus of buyers begging for creature resources. Check your galaxy trade forums and your servers RIN channel if it has one (if not, create one). As others have said, it's not a simple formula. But after browsing the trade forums and lurking in RIN for a while, you'll figure out a fair price for anything you harvest.

as with most people, I can't stress enough the value of the traede forums. I've gained quite a few regular customers via the forums and it's an immense help. Call me elitist, but I don't generall hunt anything less then 50 cpu as I don't feel its a good reflection of investment vs. return I could make more whoring Janta/Mokk shaman missions. Granted, it's not all about the creds asI take more pleasure in my trade then most of the other professions, and even then I usually have 1-2 others in my group with some level of scout, so we tend to turn a good profit.

There is more to it than OQ/PE/DR/FL.

Some resources are harder to obtain than others, sometimes more than one good resource spawn at the same time, sometimes there has been a barren spell and people are desperate for what they can get.

In general, the trade forums are your friend and the buyers will dictate price. If they find they aren't getting enough takers the price goes up, if they're getting plenty they'll lower it or stop buying.

It really takes a while to get a feel for pricing before you've seen any quoted offers, and it does depend on the situation on your server at a given time.

Pricing formulas by and large can go jump off a cliff really, they're all complete rubbish and don't take into account enough factors to be worth reading or taking seriously.

At first I recommend you stick to checking the trade forums as your key pricing guideline, and slowly you'll build a picture about how the buyers on your server view things. As a Ranger, it won't be too often that you'll set the price. It's more a case of you seeing an offer, knowing how many units per hour you can harvest, and deciding whether that's comparable to how you value your skills and time.

so so so very true! the trade forums are your best friend! well maybe second best. cant forget olde yeller. Don't really have to post that you are selling any resources, there are alot of post with people looking to buy them, usually at good cpu, sometimes at a cpu lvl that makes you wonder if they've been taking drugs! Some people on tarquinas are paying 300cpu for the current corellian avian.
