Thread: The Zarn Tale from the BH forums
Ok... well... this has hit the limelight Rangers... time for a serious look at /Rescue...
Should /Rescue continue as its implemented right now? i.e. you can rescue ANY PC IN COMBAT or should there be a "special exception" for bounty hunters?
I'm really interested to know how SOE intended this to work. If /Rescue was meant for me to be able to rescue ANY PC in combat... then why would anyone get an exception for this? This just doesn't seem right... and I don't know what the right answer is right now.. other than I think /rescue should continue as it is... if you are in combat with someone... then someone should be able to /rescue that person and try to save them.. whether its PVP, TEF, or Bounty Hunting... let alone just plain ol' killin gubbers...
Here's the THREAD that has the Bounty Hunters talking:

What do you think? Is /rescue working just as it should here? or is this not desireable?

Personally as a BH I like the way that you employed /rescue.
I think its a creative way to use the skill that the devs gave you. There is room for griefing but if players refrain from greifing the there shouldnt be a problem. I.E. dont contiually screw over the same BH for gods sake.
Use some good judgement and there shouldnt be a problem. However, until there is proof of greifing I think the skill is fine the way it is. It adds an extra element of risk.

I posted this to the Bounty Hunter thread, figured I post it here for good measure...
Master Ranger here.
I have used /rescue to assist a player Bounty Hunter before, as well as assisting in GCW battles, but I have NEVER known it to work in reverse (rescuing an NPC to gain a TEF against a Player Character)... then again, I've never tried that before.
I think rescue should continue to allow rangers to save PLAYERS from Bounty and Factioned NPCs and creatures, but I dont think it should work the otherway around.
I do commend you on your roleplaying ideas. Maybe you could stick to only assisting the Hunter, not the Hunted... at least until Player Bounties are added ![]()
Its supposed to be a taunt creature skill. Rangers are supposed to be the Player vs. Animal class. Bearing in mind that I just jumped into this post not knowing exactly whats going on I do think its a bit weird if rangrs can taunt off BH marks, which are supposed to be one on one affairs. Critters I can understand. They could have just called this skill Rodeo Clown, btw, and it would be an accurate description. But taunting people is another skill (Taunt, in fact) and is from a whole other class.
As it stands, there are very few Rangers relative to the numbers of other professions. Add the fact that only a minority of Rangers will use Rescue for this purpose, and it will rarely happen, and never in large numbers.
I think it's a great use for a skill that is almost useless in PVE, it actually gives Rescue a purpose - and adds a bit of fun to the Ranger class as well as helping us in PVP a bit.
