First off, this is how I charge, it is only a suggestion, please don't attack me.

Charge whatever you want to, but I think we should come to some general consensus to help the market and our profession. I came up with these numbers based on watching the market and traveling the Chiastra galaxy... I based my prices on overall quality, but I also take into consideration the other qualites of the hides.

Listed by range of quality

1000-900 8- 7cr

900-800 7- 6cr

800-700 6- 5.5cr

700-600 5.5- 5cr

600-500 5- 4.5cr

500-400 4.5- 4cr

400-300 4- 3.5cr

300-200 3.5- 2.5cr

200-100 2.5cr- 1.5cr

100-0 1.5- 1cr

I would like to reiterate that a lot of these seem to be the going rate, I have been looking around a lot. I also have been sucessfully selling at these prices. (yes even 7.5-8 credits each for the good stuff)

I haven't started researching bone or meat yet but thats next on my list.

It's about what I charge as well.

It's always funny to hear some schmuck artisan say, looking for 10,000 units of 950+ Dantooine hide and willing to pay 3-4 credits per.

Cracks me up everytime I hear it.

Nice list, if you can sell at those prices, keep it up. First rule of business is sell at what the market will support.

From what I've gathered though, hides and bones have two stats that Artisans are interested in. For Meats, I think it's just one stat that Medics want.

Hides: Overall Quality, Malleability
Bones: Overall Quality, Toughness

Meat: Flavor

Now the OQ may not be the main quality they are looking for, and from the Schematics I've seen those aren't even looked at, but who knows what hidden stats are being used.

I usually don't sell bulk quantity on the bazaar, and tend to deal with the Artisans individually, you can usually set up a guaranteed price per unit. And once you establish that you can actually supply what they want, then you are almost guaranteed sales, and they'll let you know also what is in demand so you can get that also instead of trying to speculate on the market.

Yeha, one disadvantage I have is that I have never played the professions that require our goods.

I try to ask around and keep my ears open (I'm a Bothan, so they're long and pointy, heh)

I try to write down what people need.

So when I say 4.5 -5cr, if a secondary stat is very high, then 5cr, if there is garbage for secondary stats then 4.5 (really crappy go to 4cr).

It all depends.

Oh I agree completely, Flynn... if I find some hide/bone that has 600+ in all stats, the price just went up.

Like I said, sell at what your market will support, every server has different resources qualities, so it's real hard to try to set up price lists.

Here's one way to find buyers, check the bazaar, or the World Map (Ctrl-V by default), and see who owns those items, or resources.

Once you find them, don't send them a tell... send them an email ingame. I've gotten more responses from polite emails then shooting them a tell. And it's not hard for tells to get lost as an artisan, so if you send an email you are almost guaranteed they see it.

I'm really not trying to hijak your thread Flynn, just giving you my obeservations.

Additional note: Medics need OQ for medicines in meats (OQ 66%, PE 33% to be exact) so if you have meat with low flavor and high OQ sell to medics, if low OQ and high flavor sell to chefs. Caveat: I am only a basic medic (Org. Chem IV) and have no cooking skills - likemanyrangers I burn my food over an open flame, when I bother to cook it.

Having done a little medical crafting, I think that Potential Energy is more important for the meat then the flavor.

I think these are good rates and I will try out this price structure myself.

About what I sell for, however I think your missing the problem out there. It's the scouts and/or adv. professions ( CH's and BH's) who harvest just to make cash and sell it at all different prices. Just my quick thought on the subject.

Good to know we are all selling around the same, makes for a fair market.

Here's a handy little thread I found on the Scout forum.

http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=scout&message.id=6613

The Scout Correspondent, DeltaXi65, started up threads asking each crafting profession what they looked for in any given type of harvested organic. I've found it handy for figuring out who would be interested in any given resource.

you can THROW THIS CHART OUT THE WINDOW as soon as the Scout fixes happen... because you can now exponentially more hides in the system due to the fact that just 2 rangers now yield 120% of the resources you previously had... egads... what if you have a group of 10 rangers... thats 60 hide per gubber ::shutter:: and we all know how many gubbers there are........

Resource type and quality seems to shift just like inorganic resources, I have noticed. I really would never charge that much even for the best possible hides you could get. I think 5 credits per hide is about the most anyone should charge for any hides. I figure it's my way of keeping the cost of goods produced with those hides at a minimum. Just my 2 cents.

It doesn't work quite that way...I often hear people having a hard time making money as rangers, yet I can tell you I've been a Master Ranger for a month on Radiant and have over 3 million in the bank.

First, you need to know your customers and their requirements:

Armorsmiths - Scaley, Wooley and Leathery - most of the masters only want the best there is in the current resource shift, who wants to make an inferior product? Overall quality is important, but it's not the only thing of importance - you also need the shock (resistance) and Malliability (encumberance)

Artisans - clothing and furniture requires hide of various types (majority wooley in some cases)

Second, can't go just by your scale to be honest (yes, it's a good starting or negotiating point - for one I only work on request or orders sent directly to me by email)...it may seem odd, but most artisans would rather pay a bit more for the assurances of a "relationship" and know that what will arrive and when...i do not go around selling by "shouting" - i have relationships where i know what the person needs and will leave it on their vendor, knowing they will buy it when they are on-line

Third, you also have to factor the prevalence of the hide....if leathery or Corellia is the best leathery on your server - forget it, you know how many people will be floating around with it...thus, you have to factor the planet (difficulty) and the size of the mob, for instance on my server the best scaley is currently on tat...but, I refuse to go around killing mites at 23 hide/creature for 5hrs to fill and order for 5k hide (even at the 60k i got, it's not worth my opportunity cost)

In order to be truely successful, just like any business you have to know your product and the customer....hope this helps....take care!!!

Apparet, so do you agree with my prices?

And I don't know how that new harvesting thing is gonna work, but lets just say the market gets flooded with hide...

Well, I don't have the answer since I'm no economist. I do know that rare equals high prices and not rare equals somthing else, heh.

I would think if we just stuck with our prices, quantity would not affect us. We would just have to stockpile resourses and release them into the economy slowly.

I for one buy and sell hides all day. I make money doing that. I see dolts selling 2800 hides for 2500 (that ends up being a negative for the bad at math like me...) I see 250hides for 300cr, 100hides for 100cr, what are these people thinking? I buy them and re sell them at my prices.

I travel the galaxy monitoring the market and "cleaning it up". If Tatooine is low on 900+ hides I go there and do business and so on for other planets.

I am trying to police the situation so we can avoid the "Well I see 989 quality hide on the Bazaar for 3credits per unit all of the time..." I say, no you didn't...because I bought it before you did and I re sold it for 7...

And don't forget the crafting of traps and camps to count towards survival and fronteering will use up a lot of resources. I know I would grind on practice mode all day...
