Thread: /rescue working as intended?

Is Rescue working exactly as intended, allowing the "rescue" of a wide variety of living beings (PC, NPC, mob, etc.) -- this being as I think it would -- or is it "broken" and easily used to exploit torescue the latter (NPC, mob, etc.)? If someone could clear this up, it would be most appreciated. Also, is there any sign of the developers changing it in the future, or what?

I've only used it once and it worked beautifully. This was after the last patch. A fellow had 3 mobs on him as he was running away. I hit the rescue button. All of a sudden, the 3 mobs broke off him, ran a bit in different directions. Meanwhile, the rest of us pounded on them.

It seemedto work like I had erased their aggro thoughts and it was like we were back at the beginning of the fight where they sit tight until a player hits them.

But I mean... is it working as intended when someone saves a mob from a player? Honestly, I still see it in context as I've always associated Rangers with people who were "one with nature" -- tree huggers, if you will. Now, because I associate them like this, I would see them defending nature's creatures from anything... even other humans. But, I see people calling it an exploit, a bug, and what not. Correspondent's thoughts?

If you can /rescue a mob that a neutral player is shooting and then attack that player, then it's an exploit.

Proof: Holo has said multiple times that SWG will not have non-consensual PVP; therefore, anything that allows such must have been unintentional.

Based solely on reading other threads on the topic I have come to the conclusionrescue can be used to grief. A fellow ranger has used rescue to attack another player (not a NPC another PLAYER) without their consent.

here is the original thread detailing what happened

rescue can be used as a griefing exploit.
