Thread: Rangers need to ADVERTISE!
I have authored a few threads dealing with what I think is a lack of a place for us in the society, and I have seen similar threads along the lines of...
We need a purpose...
OK I'm a Master Ranger what now..
A Rangers place in he scheme of things..
and on and on....
I just went over to the scout boards and I saw a post by a doctor looking for meat! I saw a few requests for services that we are more capable of providing!
So let people know that a Ranger is an Uber Scout! Advertise what you can do and the things you can do better (even if you have to lie about you traps working, heh)
Spread the word and let people know if they want meat (or whatever)to post on our boards not the scouts...
I still think Rangers need to vocally highlight the differences between themselves and scouts as the superior resource provider....
(even though this went to page 2 so quickly, heh)
It really troubled me when I went to the scout forum and saw so may requests for services from other professions who apparently have no idea Rangers can provide a better service...
Flynn,
If its any consolation to you, I've noticed that people advertising in the Scout forum are now popping over here and advertising here as well.

Still can't find anyone to make me a decent TANGLE pistol on the VALCYN server.![]()
Finally saw a DX2 for 40k ![]()
Kaiz,
You can!!!
Here's the trick. We have a medium house, so it has stairs. When you /drop an object in your house, it stays on the level that you drop it on - if you are on the stairs, you can move it forward and it will stay on the level of the stairs. We just go up to the fifth or sixth stair, drop the fish, push it around and voila! We've got a mounted fishy on the wall.
You can also have your CH friends tame you some critters and give them to you via secure trade. If you don't call them in your inventory, you can drop 'em on the ground and they just sit there. I'm in the process of getting a coupla gnorts for decoration, as well as a Shaumpaunt and a Vermook (to keep my legendary "monkey making opportunities" typo alive).
Only problem is that it only works in areas where you've got stairs. Try it out!

I'm not sure if it is true that you can drop tamed creatures.
I think they have to be un-tamed, in order to drop them in the house. Tamed ones, only appear in the datapad. Therefore, don't loose hope, you still can have pets in the house, you have to have bio-engineered pets for that. Those actually do appear in the inventory (I believe they are deeds, but I'm not sure).
Would be very cool to see a merchant friend place a vendor in your house and turn it into a butcher shop for the exotic and arcane....

My idea too. Too bad a friend can't drop a vendor in my house because it is bugged.
Kai,
Daria and I are going to open "Daria and Brisc's Clothing Clearinghouse and Bait Shoppe" as soon as she gets Master Tailor and some merchie skills. She owns our house- I own our PA Hall.
I figure I can sell all the bait and fishing equipment, plus hides and bones and stuff and she can make clothing. Who wouldn't want to buy bait while you buy a dress?

Delta,
A chef friend of mine and I are also talking about doing a similar set up once Player Cities launch. Your idea will be very cool though, and this is one of the main reasons that I love this game. The innovation of people coming up with these cool little theme shops to make the game more interesting and RP like.
I think it would be very cool to see your Woodland walker shop. Have your tailor friend make some cool "outdoors" garb and have it displayed around the store. Have your hunting rifles, fishing poles, bait, etc in the vendor.
One thing that would make it very cool for us rangers is the ability to mount fish and minor kills as trophys. That would put the icing on the cake in my eyes....
