Thread: What I Like About Being a Ranger

First of all, since Rangers really suck overall, you know we're not gonna get nerfed by any up-and-coming Nerf Bats. Basically, what else can SoE do to the class? Only two traps of the entire Scout/Ranger line are worth making and using, maskscent is only marginally effective (does it even really work? I don't really know anymore. I think so.), and field bio tells me that every creature I've ever examined has no special attack moves: None, None, and a Base-To-Hit value I don't understand the meaning of.

I suppose they could make the Snare and Root as effective as the other traps are (read -- do nothing except use a LOT of resources), so that's something to consider. Everyone has to admit, a 3-4 second creature root does make us Rangers a pretty overpowered class, overall. I mean, I can kill a Peko Peko now. Should we even be that uber?

With the most recent, "big patch", which my friends and I like to refer to as "beta 5", we Wayfarers seem to be able to run around a lot sneakier; however, I have no clue if I'm being successful at my sneakiness or not. Still, I did grab a bottle of bees out of a Plains Cat lair the other day, safely. You gotta admit, just being able to do that is worth the effort we put into our profession.

You get really nifty titles like "Trap Master" and "Hunt Master" and "Wayfarer". And, Wayfarer almost seems like Wafer which is cool, 'cause then I'd be a cookie.

You can forage like crazy and get fish bait (big seller on bBay) and lots of nifty looking food that don't do much good but you can feedthose foodsto your pets, if you have any pets.

And, I can't even begin to describe the joys of camping. I mean, I've almost made it though Frontiering III already! I can't explain the number of hours and hours and hours and hours of camp-sitting joy and excitement I've experienced getting there either.

Well, I do get a lot of hide, bone, and sometimes meat from thingies I kill. That's nice.

I can ID stuff and see it's Challenge Level (CL) and see it's special attacks (NONE, NONE for everything. .Hmm....), and it's Base-To-Hit, which has no meaning for me.

I can run up hills faster than a Mokk can, and that's a good thing if I've agro'd a Mokk and I'm trying to outrun him or her since they hit for like 5 times what I hit for.

I'm glad I'm a Ranger because I'm betting the farm that SoE will eventually have time to look at this class in a realistic light and make it a really cool profession.
