Thread: Mixed Feelings

Just thought I'd share my feelings relating to the beloved Ranger profession and the upcoming changes to the FSCS system:

I'm experiencing a great deal of anxiety about the upcoming changes (and the latest set of "nerfs" ie removing camp requirements to pull out pets/vehicles, removing the /conceal vs. NPC bug, etc) to the profession - I took the profession for the wilderness perspective, to be an all-around outdoorsman (complimented by the rifleman prof), and while I like the official "Outdoorsman" proposal, I still fear that the devs will choose either their own creature-centric version, ora hybrid of the two... don't get me wrong, I'm not against the creature-hunting aspects of our profession (though I think they need to be improved *cough*traps*cough*), but if all the profession does is hunt creatures, there'll be nowhere for outdoor enthusiasts to go anymore.

So, I thought I had a solution: I was gonna spend a couple months working on my holoprofessions, checking back on the boards regularly and waiting to see what happens to the profession... and eventually hoping to return when the profession stabilizes and resembles the profession I've fallen in love with.

Of course, I considered the possibility that the profession would go the creature-centric path and I'd be out hologrinding one day and find that out, then have to pick another path to go, or just live with the creature-centric path... but I think the only thing I could come up with is that I could never enjoy any other profession as much as I enjoy Ranger.

Now with the Jedi system being renovated (no more hologrinding), I no longer have an excuse to put off that decision, or a motivator to try out other professions in the mean time.

So, here's hoping that the devs find the Outdoorsman proposal to be the best option. Cheers. biwan:

PS. The hardest part of this profession to give up is the forum community. I can't spend more than a few minutes in the other professions' forums before I get frustrated/tired/irritated and leave. I love you guys.

I gotta agree with you on the forum Terinati. I can't stand to go to the other forums hardly anymore. I'm a DE/Merchant first and foremost, and right now, I try not to go to their forums. So many forums have bad correspondents, inter-profession bickering, mutiny, or just plain whining and very few good ideas.

Here I haven't seen much in the way of a non-constructive, whining, or bickering post. Most posts here have content that either sparks interest, a thought, or helps you in-game. And everyone seems to "get along" here . AndNraas is one of the best correspondents I've seen in a long time.

If the devs choose to ignore the Ranger profession, it won't be due to constructive ideas and criticism from the community, or the fact that our correspondent doesn't push issues. Or even a bunch of rant posts. (there's a few that feel that why the DE is getting overlooked is because of all the ranting going on over there and no constructive ideas).

Props to the Scout Community too. Delta(is that right?) has done a great job over there.
