Thread: Fixed on Test: Foraging

Abug that has plagued rangers since day 1 has been fixed. The "ability" we had to forage 3 items at once is finally a reality. Though there isn't much to forage, it is a check off our bug list. I foraged consecutively as a master Ranger 12 items in 4 tries (3 Meroj Melons, 3 insect bait, 1 sijo sewi, and 5 wild snaff). No more inventory full!

Thanks Devs.

If you guys want me to test any other facet of rangerism or Scoutism, just post here and I will do my best.

Well... That's very cool to hear, I might just have to try that out myself.

Of course, since my inventory is actually full for real on TC, I might have a wee bit of trouble.

Guess they are running through the bugs from the Top 5... I wonder if they fixed anything else.

Hmmm...

"So far no rare items out of 200 forages. but then again, they are RARE"

As I suggested in another thread, probably the "rare" itemsare simplymore exotic herbs. Notice any new herbs while foraging?

"I also found that the dumb squares from traps are gone"

The "dumb squares"... I don't quite follow, care to elaborate?

If I averaged a single Flurr Cle every time I foraged, I'd be content without any other "rares". Mind you, that isn't to say I wouldn't like a variety of other food products.. But anything less than 500 or so is useless, because you can't eat more than one.

Used traps show up in the HUD as a white square. It gets pretty ugly with a decent sized group throwing traps. Hard to see anything else with all the squares clutering things up.

Thank the Devs for us when you get a chance NRaas. If they can make those two things work better in production, It'll be a very nice change.

when you throw a trap, it leaves a white square on the radar and a trap graphic on the ground. After a long battle, the radar is obscured by white boxes and your FPS decreases due to increased polygon count. It seems that they fixed this.

I tested my scout alt vs my Master Ranger main on foraging and the success rate is higher, but there seems to be no correlation between the rare herbs. in 10 tries in the same area, here are my results. The Parentheses show more than one pull per forage.

Scout: Kodo-nothing-nothing-sijo sewi-scule nef-nothing-foraged bugs-foraged grubs-furr-cle-nothing, furr-cle onion

Master Ranger- (Kodo fruit, Worm Bait), Tweth'pek, Foraged Grubs, Foraged Fungus, (Kodo fruit, alver Tweth'pek, Maroj Melon), nothing, wild snaff, ko-do fruit, Bugs, grubs.

As you can see, the only differences are not rare herbs. The scout pulled two onions while the Master Ranger pulled 0. The ranger pulled 3 kodo fruit while the scout pulled one. it seems to be a roll of the dice.

As a reply to the "only can eat one" post, I ate 2 onions after each other for a total mind buff of 1000 for 60s. THe stomach has been redesigned in this publish so you can eat a bunch of stuff. You can stack chef food and foraged food too for a quick buff before going into combat.

Aye, I read your other thread and figured out what you were talking about.

I haven't used a trap in ages (not since I completed the skill set). The last time I recall seeing one of those white dots was back in October.

Yup, that about sums up the Ranger Skill set

Any chance we can see something done to make them useful again? I'd like to see some that can be used on NPC's, or even PC's, after all commandos have grenades

Thanks for reading

Now this only leaves the question... where's our "rare items"?

I can think of a bug fix for that now: just change the description of the skill, hehe.

Anyway, this is good to hear. It was annoying to get nothing when you were supposed to get something better than normal. Yay!

I'm pretty sure that rare items were foraging multiplepiecesof an item and not getting an actual item that is rarely dug up. I think this is a good thing because it woud be easier to sell 5 melons for a certain price on the bazzar than it is to sell a single item of food.
