I've been think aobut the various professions in the game and what uses they currently have and what uses people want them to have. I have never been a Ranger so I don't know what you are capable of. Just looking for your thoughts on this.

At the moment we cannot fullfil our roles but here they are how they should be:

The GCW:

Rangers are Pathfinders: With stealth they can take themselves out of the visual spectrum and be unattackable by players and equipment but also cannot attack. In this stealth mode they act as the forward recon unit who scouts the area, sends feedback to the group and relays information and layout back to the squad leeder.

Rangersare Group Suport: Rangers can plant down impressive camps that can be upgraded using SL modules to create a forward command outpost that provides defensive and offensive bonuses to group members.

Group Roles:

Rangers are Pathfinders: As with GCW they use stealth of various types to hide from agressive creatures, scout the area andmove at great speed over the lands.

Rangers areSurvival Habbitat Specialists: Rangers use camps with modules to provide the group with hunting bonuses (considerable and wide ranging), a portable habbbitat for regenation and healing, various defensive/safety capabilities and a base to use other non-ranger modules to enhance the ranger camp.

Rangers are Creature Combat Controllers: Rangers use ingenous traps to delay attack rounds of creatures, control their speed, 'hold' creatures with tranc darts and concussion charges, bring down their defenses and control the combat situation.

Rangers are Hunting Guides: Rangers can track down the wildest most vicious beasts using /areatrack and /track. They can find the rarest of creatures in the most remote locations for group parties to hunt down. Rangers know the wilderness like the back of their hand and can guide a group toa hunting ground.

Rangers are Ultimate Hunters: They can identify a target's week spots and aid the group in taking the beast down much more quickly (ranger damage multiplyers). They can use all the skills noted above to help the group bring down the largest of creatures.

General:

Rangers are Ultimate Hunters: They can hunt much more effectively than any other player and track down the rarest of creatures. No player can match the effectivness of rangers again creatures and through the use of traps andcamps can extend this advantage even further.

Rangers are Masters Of The Wilderness: Rangers have developed inate defensiveresistances to poisons and diseases, they know exactly how each creature is going to attack and posses the knowledge to reduce the damage done from creaturesconsiderably. They can set up elaborate survival habbitats that can aid in regeneration, recovery, downtime reduction and saftey. They can avoid the watchfull eyes of beasts using camoflagueand can pathfind through even the most hostile of lands.

Overall we are supporters of groups (gcw or hunting) and the ultimate creature hunters hands down.

I like it. What we need in the game is more Definition of profession roles.

I feel support is primary. combatant second. in and out with the info. and Camps that can be used effectively buy us and those SL, docs/medics. Id also like to see the addition of if you become a master ranger and the Recruiter rank of the faction your currently in. The ability declare or go covert in our camps would be A real boost.
