Guess I burned out beating up animal's noses and knees while grinding TKM, and just didn't feel like killing stuff any more, and started thinking about my little used lacto-ovo skills. Maybe all the meditating brought out my gentler side. I figure all the BE's are probably gathering eggs while they're in the dead stumps and lairs, but I don't think many people are milking the critters, since I rarely see Blue Milk on the market, a very useful drink. So I recently milked my first Bolma, on Dath.
Does anyone know if I can get an extra fill up in my milk jugs as a Master Ranger, like with other harvest bonuses? Does the quality spawn as randomly as other resources?
Is there a Guide to Power Milking out there someone could point me to?
Has anyone petitioned the devs for some squirting sounds?
(and yeah, I did see that Nightsister Milk Thread - I ain't goin' there)
- playing on Ahazi as Odyesseus O'Riley, Master Ranger, Master TKA

There is a way to get more milk, it just flies in the face of your newfound respect for life. After milking a creature, you can kill it and then /harvest milk on the corpse. I know that doesn't help you at all. Sorry.
Not sure if milk harvest rates change as you advance in skill. Once I collected about 13k units of endorian wild milk (hope I never see another swirl prong again). My experience was that some yielded around 30 units upon milking, some yielded 70 or more, and some yielded anywhere in between those amounts. However, all yielded around 50 units when milked, ah, postmortem. (Ewwww.) I believe that this second number would be the one affected by scout/ranger skill, as 50 was about the number I was getting forhide /bone harvestsfrom swirl prongs at that time. Eco-friendly milk harvesting (i.e., no animals were harmed during the filming of this, uh, beverage) seems to yield a random per-critter amount within a pre-set range.
But then, I could be totally wrong. Wouldn't be the first time.

Lacto-ovo - a new way to say Dairy farmer.
Blue milk is not used much as it takes too long to clear the system for people using brandy and another buff. For a one time heal, its weak. BEs have scout, they can milk and find their own eggs. Herb meat at 100 cpu is easier to harvest, I get XP for it, and I don't wander around with my head up some creatures butt trying ot milk it.
I keep saying, no barnyard poop on my boots. I did enough of that IRL.
Odd that we don't get a bonus to either milking or egg finding.

heh - well, yeah, a little tongue in cheek here: I actually haven't given up hunting, but I do get fascinated by the quirky little activities that can come into this gameplay. Temujin, that was a riot, take it a step further: No actual animals were milked during the playing of this video game. Dairy Farmer? Yep, was born in the Midwest, 'nuff said. Poop on my boots? Haven't noticed. Maybe you've got a third party plug-in for that you forgot you installed. Where can I get it?
Point taken on the Blue Milk, but it has saved me from incap a couple times, without the risky downer of the spice high. Only use it once in a while for the reasons you mention, JB.
Probably should never have started this thread. The devs will read it and when the Mythic Ranger Revamp comes, all we'll get is a harvest bonus on eggs.

and i will still skin anything all day, as long as it brings a profit.
But I make sure to use everything I kill and not cause an imbalance in the ecosystem.

I hate to say this, RebelHobo, but you really need to rekindle your lust for killing. This new dolphin-safe attitude has also dulled the cunning and vindictiveness that every ranger needs in order to survive. So the devs give us a bonus to egg harvesting? Then we unite and flood the economy on every server with eggs. Thousands of eggs. Millions of eggs. Eggs as far as the eye can see. Eggs as far as the mind can think. Armorsmiths want hides? Tough-- they get eggs. Docs need meat? Sorry, just eggs. Chefs need milk? No milk, only eggs! Okay, so the chefs won't feel the pinch as badly as the other crafters, but I hope you're getting my point, which is, uh, I forget. Something to do with killing, I suspect. Won't you come back to the fold? Won't you kill again?

I really must apologize-- I'm not sure where this came from. I think it's past my bedtime...
Will you at least kill gungans?

Bravo, Blakkstar, Gaia thanks you.
And Tem, I'm trying to feel the Rage.... but... but.... I keep thinking about planting soybeans behind the old Guild Hall, and I'm wondering if I can use all these unlocked containers to ferment the tofu....
But seriously, I think within a couple months Foraging will be so ramped up that everyone in the game will be fearing us as the Uber Organic Gardeners!

You want to be feared, eh? Well, why didn't you say so? Heck, that's good enough for me. In that case, I fully support you in your enviro-friendly endeavors. May the world of crafters be chilled to their very bones at the sight of your soy and lentil army.
/ranger salute (the good one, you know, with more than one finger involved. Not the ranger salute that's given to non-rangers)
I wonder, though... will uber-foraging give us combat xp?
