Thread: Changes that I would like to see to Ranger

Right now the only thing rangers are good for is collecting extra Hides ect. Camps are no longer needed. Traps only work in PvE. Camo kits dont have much use other than to hide you argo. Here is some Ideas that could help out the Ranger profession.


1) Allow traps to be used in PvP and against NPC, Give us some new trap types Like a fire bomb trap that does a small dot. Allow traps to be experminted on for effectiveness and Quantity.


2) Camo Kits: camo kits should only be able to be applied while prone, With out Concelment III you cannot move while hiden, after Concelement III you can crawl around while hiden (this should be like the Rifleman take cover skill). While hiden you can fire at an NPC with out been agroed (novice 5% chance of advoiding dectection, Concelment I 10%, Concelment II 15%, Concelment III 20%, Concelment 25%, and master 30%) while hiden you do not appear on the radar. If you attack a Player while hiden he will not auto return fire.


3) Camps need to be looked at. Maybe give them a faster HAM recovery rate like 2x.


4) Allow rangers to create and use Flares, Flares should be used just like fireworks. Flare should have a smoke tail down to the ground, and a loud report at after they are fired (can be seen and heard 75 meters away. These can be used to bring help and report enemy locations.


5) Revamp the trackings abilities a bit. Give us a new tracking animation, for example when a ranger uses /Areatrack he/she pulls out a set of ElectroBinoculars and scan the area. Make areatrack easier to use, as it is right now you have to click what you want to track off a menu, make to so you can use the following commands to track stuff /areatrack people, /areatrack players, /areatrack critters.


6) Ranger should get the same bounses to hit NPC's as they do to critters.


7)Rangers should be able to see how much damage the NPC might do, Special attacks, the Lvl of the NPC, and if the DB, just like critters.


8) Rangers should get a bonus to Incap recover as the go up theFrontiering tree, for example at Frontier I your incap timer is reduced by 5% at Frontiering II 10% ect. so if you have Master Ranger and you are incaped you get a 25% recover bonus. Your timer is normal 80 sec, but the the skill you will recover after just 60 sec.

I don't like this at all. If I wanted to be like a rifleman, I would take up Rifleman. I don't want to be aggroed on by everything as I speed around Dath... I only want to be aggroed on by every other thing that breaks the cammo.

Don't we all want that? Even if HTFB had a healing factor of 2.0 and worked down from there, that would be great.

I think a better animation would be to kneel and search the ground, we ARE supposed to be looking for tracks and such. I don't have a problem with being able to type the command, although I wouldn't want it to be "critters."

Why, on earth should we have this bonus? It has nothing to do with being a Ranger. Maybe Docs could have it, but it would probably be a TK thing, they're supposed to be so in tune with their bodies.

When I think of Camo Kits I think of a stationary blind, (like a duck blind). Think of it in terms of a Sniper. When he is prone he hiden, but when he is standing he is more likely to be seen. If you run near a creature while even camoed he is going to see you. If I was standing on Dath and I saw a rock (or tree or what ever we look like) I would be like what the F was that, and probally open fire on it.

No, we shouldn't.

Why shouldn't we, As a ranger I know every thing about everyone. I shold be able to identify the weapon he is using, I should be able to identify his weakness and exploit them, just like I can with creatures.

This goes with the whole survival thing. TKA already have a skill like this "force of will"
