OK, this is OT, rangerwise, but it's not, if you see what I mean...
Since the end of last week I seem to have hit a bit of a muddy patch in-game. Maybe it's finding myself right down at the **se end of yet another l-o-o-o-n-g grind. Maybe it's just 'mid-masters blues'. You know the ones, where you're about halfway up a profession tree so are getting pretty good but still suck? And there's way too much time and effort invested to turn back and go do something else??
Okay, I was getting grumpy. Making stupid mistakes when I was hunting. Getting snappy because I was 'forcing' myself to play and really not enjoying myself. Yeah, I know, how pathetic is that?
So. Friend loaned me Doom III. I figured a change might be as good as a rest.
Oh good grief... no amount of mindless button smashing in SWG can compare to the endless shoot shoot run run shoot shoot OOOOH scary! shoot shoot... OK, so it LOOKS marvellous and the effects are pretty impressive (this from somebody who was impressed by Atari's Tank game back in the olden days).
So, back in SWG land. OOOOOH it was so nice to get 'home' again. Out on Tat, getting harrassed by Spice Fiend and Desert Demon gangs while trying to dodge Imperial patrols, just so I could hunt ickle chicky birdies... Yay, bantha!! One shot kill from 64m, whole herd down, harvest, milky milky... bull rondo.. c'mere ya big smelly... drop, mindshot, bleeds, run...
and if I didn't want to do that? I could go hang out in the cantina and play 'guess the gender' of the robocops, train up some novice scouts, heck, just go to the hotel and blow a pile of loose change on the lugjack machines.
Way I see it? Some of the combat professions and the big dungeons... they're our ingame version of Doom. Yahoo, go shooty shooty, me kill you long time.. CLONE!! Am back... Rinse, wash and repeat.
But ranger? Oh yeah, that's the long game. Stategy, pitting your wits against heck knows how many nasties. Never the same thing two days in a row unless you've got a serious harvesting fetish.
And to think I'd even got as far as thinking of dropping MR to go commando!!
/hugs the Ranger Brethren,
/hugs the Ranger Sistren too.

I've been doing the same thing with "Fable"...taking a break just to kind of get over the "Jedi Grind". bleh.
cool thing is, they have a "Ranger" title that you can buy. What do you think I spent my first 400 gold on? Armor? Potions? Perhaps a haircut? Nope, not for this guy. I spent my hard-earned cash so that NPC women around the world could say to me "Oh! Ranger! That's a nice, outdoorsy name, isn't it?".
Cool thing about this game is that I have a sword...AND A BOW!!!!!!!!!! I can creatures made purely of stone with my bow. Take that, naysayers!!!
lol. I had to.sorry.

SW Battlefront may have kept me from playing last night. At least I am noit a traitor and I stuck with a Star Wars game! Needless to say, my SW geekiness came out yesterday as I made a pilgrimage to the mall so I gould get the DVDs and the game!

Battlefront is my next purchase. But I know that since I can play with my friends from home (who, by the way, love to whoop me at games, but don't have computers that can run SWG) I would never get to do work, eat, sleep, or go to class or crew practice...so I'm holding off until this weekend.
as for being a traitor....I MADE A RANGER!!! what did you do, Calc? shoot some Ewoks? not very ranger-like if you ask me. sicko.

I was the nut singing along to the Star Wars music at Best Buy. DVD's in one hand, Battlefront in the other. I missed the 501'st though. They were all at Media Play. I did get that special edition Scout Trooper for pre-ordering and the Insider from Best Buy.
Geek? I can live with that. ![]()

They don't have Best Buy where I live (probably a good thing for my budget). I had to go to target to get the DVDs, but they didn't have Battlefront (the seem to have opted for Sims 2 instead of Star Wars...Come to think of it, I don't think I ever saw SWG there. I had to wander dwon the mall *ugggg* to EB to get the game. It is sweet though..my first comment is, why did they make the E11 so accurate? Stormies couldn't hit squat with them in the movies, but I can place shots wherever I want in Battlefront. Meh...so, what kind of points do I get for send an OT thread OT?

Best Buy is a mile from my house and on my way home from work. Worse was when Gamestop was the same way.
As for the E11 accuracy its due to the Imperial Doctrine: If a stormtrooper shoots straight put them in a TIE fighter.

Great, now you guys are going to make me spend even more money to play something that I don't really have the time to spend playing. Oh well, who is going to setup the server?

Will be getting it for the PC, but I want the DVD's... but I can only afford one or t'other this month.... Oh crikey, and then there's JtL to save up for too... My parents have a LOT to take the blame for. Landing me with a birthday at the wrong end of the year. HUH!
OK, so as I'm typing this up the phone line drops. Waiting for the **** thing reconnecting I turn round to the TV just in time for the following three adverts...
SW DVD set.
SW Battlefront
SW collectibles magazine with little plastic figures
followed by...
a feature on the news about the digital remastering of SW trilogy.
... I reckon they're trying to tell me something...
